Holding onto a useless, bulky
book with an important air.
lulz

Some interesting translations.
As in, the guy holding the book (the happy slave) is putting on an air of importance.

air of importance sounds better than important air.

that's all opinion there. "with an air of importance" or "with an important air" are both phrases I've seen used many times.

No, it isn't just opinion.

Having it like that, the prepositional phrase "with an important air" seems to be modifying the book, not the person. Subject-object disagreement. Yeah, it's a song and everything and grammar generally doesn't apply, but in this case it looks kinda silly and that's why people were lol'ing. Books (none that I've seen, anyway) don't have important airs about them.

either way you put it, you can misinterpret the phrase to be modifying the book. but an air of importance may sound a little smoother.

holy shit! living field = <3 :whoa:  :groovin:

going by the music alone it's an "ok" album. adding the lyrics makes it an awesome album.

One of the great skills of translating is to make grammatical sense in English, while retaining the original meaning of the work.

For example:

"Pretentiously holding onto a useless, bulky book."

D:

I don't know why I didn't think of that wording. Sometimes the obvious answer is elusive.

Post Re:
06 - Girlfriend

------------------------------------------

After the last train has left,
we walk home on the tracks.
When we're together, it doesn't seem far.

I purposefully whistle a popular song
that you hate, and we have a fight.
And
when it rained, we huddled together
beneath one umbrella. It was almost
as if we were warming each other; as if we were embracing.

Though I become sulky easily, you understand how
to remove the thorns that pierce my chest.

The days that you touched with kindness
are everything to me here, now.
Though sadness comes repeatedly, girlfriend,
it's okay. I'm not alone.

The two of us are a puzzle who's pattern is slightly awkward.
Even though I feel shy, I want to keep going forever.

You say the words that I want to hear
with a straight face at the right time.
Looking at a little of what lies ahead, girlfriend,
somehow I feel like crying.

The days that you touched with kindness
are everything to me here, now.
Though sadness comes repeatedly, girlfriend,,
it's okay. Don't forget...
Sorry, my English isn't good. But Isn't it suppose to be "walked" in past tense ?I love this song. This is the final version? Or just been busy?

That particular stanza is overall in the present tense, I'm pretty sure of all things, English grammar is the area I'm least likely to make glaring mistakes in.

If you're describing something you always do e.g. walking home, then you can use the present form to describe it as an ongoing action, sequencing other actions, e.g. when the train leaves.

When the last train leaves, we walk home together
vs.
After the last train has left, we walk home together

The second one sounds better and the meaning (potentially) stays the same (I'd have to look at the kanji to be sure, but I'm PRETTY certain Mare's got it right.)
