School: Things Fall Apart Heart of Darkness
By choice: The Count of Monte Cristo [I've never actually finished it]
I also really want to read I am a Cat, since I remember a bunch of you guys highly recommending it before, haven't ordered it off amazon yet though.

Re: what are you reading?
I am just about finished with a collection called The Fatal Eggs and Other Soviet Satire. The Fatal Eggs is extremely and wonderfully bizzare, and all the other stories are good too. I wasn't even expecting much, but I really liked this book. Up next I'm going for The Coinlocker Babies by Ryu Murakami. I know, I know. I just saw it at the bookstore and I felt utterly compelled to purchase it. I hope that I like it, it was sort of expensive.

Re: what are you reading?
- A Wild Sheep Chase (H. Murakami) - After Dark (H. Murakami) - The Stranger (A. Camus)
Now: - The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (Murakami)<-- fifth already, hehe
(The Dutch translation, it keeps up, more than the English translation, with Murakami's original work. Actually it's the translation of Nejimakidori kuronikuru from october 1997, without the "adjustments" of Jay Rubin)
I think I will take my time with this one. I don't know if it's a good idea to read these kind of books, while being in kinda gloomy state though. . .

Don't blame Jay Rubin for the edited state of the US edition. That was the publisher's decision. Rubin knows and works closely with Murakami on his translations.

Re: what are you reading?
Just finished The X and Y of Buy. Good stuff. It's about understanding how to appeal to each gender when trying to sell a product. But really a lot of it applies to any negotiation.

Re: what are you reading?
I just got finished reading DAWN by Octavia E. Butler and it was really good. Its part of a series and I'm really tempted to buy the rest. Very interesting read.

I read Parable of the Sower upon entering high school for summer reading. There was a substantial list, and we had to pick one, so I picked it at random. I think it was the token Black-person book, or at least that's what I thought about it at the time. Few things enraged me more than summer reading.
