Re: Why do you listen to the pillows?
Last pillows live you saw in person. Were you fucking impressed? That's all that matters.

Re: Why do you listen to the pillows?
Mare, did you listen to the end of Hybrid Rainbow?
@Brye916: You mean Kashima? You can see that he wasn't singing or even in front of the mic and it was obviously Sawao's voice...or maybe it was Jun lol.
I'm not saying Sawao is a bad singer or anything. Even the best singers dub their concert videos. This is something that is easier to pick up on if you are a singer.
I'm also not saying all their vids are dubbed. I don't think the LOSTMAN GO TO AMERICA DVD is dubbed.

It was impressive [/quote] Of course it was impressive - the pillows (old and new) are one of my favorite bands ever, so I enjoyed it a lot. But just because I was impressed doesn't mean I should just ignore the changes in their sound (mainly Sawao's voice). I'm not saying "HEY GUYS THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM." Just...I mean...if you deny it, you are a blind fanboy.

Ummmm...denying it and saying "it doesn't matter because it's still good enough to put on an awesome show" are two WAAAAY different things, buddy.

Yeah, Sawao's still good enough to crank out a good show without my ears being offended (errr, that's still kind of harsh. I LIKE SAWAO), but I'm just noting the fact. Of the decline in vocals. It's not that important.

I can't stop thinking about Animal Crossing whenever you post.

Re: Why do you listen to the pillows?
GoldenRhino has a point. I mean Sawao doesn't have the most beautiful voice but like what someone said before that his voice suits the bands style is absolutley true. Look at The Strokes lead singer, Julian Casablancas is a heavy drinker before shows and his raspy ass voice isn't the best, but the the effort and emotion he and Sawao present is the impressive shit we desire and are given.

One life on the other hand, I couldn't hear him breathe at all between lyrics. Rockman240 has a point. Still, it is quite strange that Sawao would dub a live performance...

Re: Why do you listen to the pillows?
Ive been thinking of something for awhile and I think it kinda goes here, rather then make a new thread I'll give it a go.
I listen to the pillows because they are just amazing. In a way beyond words. They keep it simple but still technical and complex. Like life. Like nature, things so simple yet so complex are their workings. But more over they just have that feel about them. Idk which evoked the mood between FLCL to the music, or the Music to FLCL ( i would put more money on the latter) but it gives it that feel. that relaxed,"dont worry about it" feel; it'll work itself out. When im mad/sad/happy they is pillows for that. when im void there is pillows for that. When im lovey and when im just ape shit mad; theres a song from them for it. and even multiple ones, some chill and some harder to exactly fit the mood. Subhuman, Funny Bunny, Wake up frenzy , Advice (we all have an ex that advice goes to), runners high? new animal? i mean you all know the list could go on forever. which brings me to my thought
Id be content if the pillows broke up. I know it sounds bad as a fan but i mean dont get me wrong I LOVE THEM with a passion, and I def dont think they are at their end, but being in a band. they have been together for so many years writing with the same people, its got to be hard. even if it gets easier with time knowing eachother, still its no easy thing writing good music and they continue to. i mean just in the pillows they have amassed over 300 songs. If my disco is right ( and i think i might be missing a few) there are 354. Wheter thats right or wrong, its approx. then minus the repeats on the singles, thats still 300-320 songs. Thats a lot of music. thats a lot of ideas. thats crazy. So if they broke up i could understand. Because to write 300 songs, you have to beast. period. and they're still going so i def have to give it to them.dont you think?

Re: Why do you listen to the pillows?
Is it possible that some of the performances were dubbed and some not? That Swanky Street sounds WAY more live than that One Life. Same with the I Want to be Sullivan performance compared to ANOTHER MORNING, xDDD.
I don't even care anymore, the pillows are the shit!
