Since the Ramones basically invented punk, would it not be a valid assumption to draw similarities with them in particular?

the predators clearly made an effort to dress like the Ramones in that video, indicating their awareness of the song's similarity to Ramones' style punk rock. I think this it's hard to argue against this one, but considering this song undermines earlier complaints that the predators sounded too much like the pillows. The Ramones are one band I don't think of when I hear the pillows most of the time.

Ramones similarities aside, I don't think that that detracts from the song at all. This is a pretty good song, and is catchy as well. I still think Live Drive is the best one though.

I think Live Drive is the best so far, it's upgraded tremendously for me, seemingly out of the blue, I enjoy it more.

However, I feel like I'd be laughed at and possibly kicked in the balls if I tried to play C.R.S. in public. Shoot The Moon doesn't do anything for me, but at least it's a happier tune. Actually, a lot of the songs on Pied Piper, too, the ones where Sawao either shouts all the lyrics or sings in a higher pitch. Don't get me wrong, I don't [i]hate[/i] Sawao's most recent vocal delivery, but it's a bit jarring and inaccessible at times. I can't get into Song for Hermit, Last Holiday and No Surrender much due to it. I love what he was able to do with Poison Rock, though. I thought on the whole, vocally, he was much better on Wake Up! I liked the vocal melodies from Wake Up, there was an emotional wavelength he was hitting for the most part on that record that really stuck with me. Of course he set the bar so high with songs like Another Morning, and maybe the instrumentation on some of those wake up songs should have been tighter, but I always felt like the vocals really connected. (On the album, Sawao live recently still shaky)

And again, although I really enjoy the kookier vocals on Tokyo Bambi, Purple Apple, PRNR, and Mr. Droopy, it doesn't feel as balanced as it should be. I feel it'd be a tough sell to anyone not familiar with the band. The exact same thing applies with some of these Predators songs as well, his vocals come off more as "strange" than "emotional". While the strange vocals on the songs I can't get into feel like Sawao wiffing on down and away pitches, when it comes to C.R.S. the YEAAAEHH YEAAAEHH YEAAAEH YEAHH is more like getting drilled in the shin with a 98 mph fastball.

No, actually, I totally agree with you. Shoot the Moon is a little better than CRS, but not much. It's bland, just like you said. Not terrible, but it still doesn't quite hook me. This album so far sounds a lot like the pillows in terms of music. It's not as different from Sawao's other music as Hunting!!! was. As I've said before, the only song that stands out of these three is LIVE DRIVE.

I was surprised by how poppy Live Drive was compared to everything on Hunting!!! After Pied Piper I would have thought that maybe Sawao would have been able to recreate that magic with The Predators, but it looks like Sawao really needed a shitty pop album from one of his bands or his head might have exploded.
