Yeah, I was mostly being kinda joking with that post.

Basically for me, the pillows were THE band to inspire me to pick up guitar. Their music and lyrics are amazing, and they just click so perfectly with me. :groovin:

Yeah, same here. And I think that applies to many IM-ers too.

Well it was the music that pretty much drew me in so I can honestly say that in my case at least lol. Seriously I was 11 when I heard my first pillows song so I know I definitely did not understand the lyrics at the time. And of course they also inspired me to pick up the guitar too.

I like the pillows because of their style, their art direction, their fashion, and their album covers. Because of their fans, their attitude, and their ideas. I like the pillows because of their music.

I don't like the pillows because of FLCL. bleh

There are two things that really make the pillows stand out for me:

1) Sawao's voice

2) Manabe's lead guitar

I love Sawao's tone, and the lead lines that Manabe comes up with are perfect and catchy; they really do carry a lot of their songs (not so much for the recent ones, sadly :( ).

Don't forget about the bass lines (from all of their bass players). :groovin: I always find myself humming the bass in each song, and then I would have a hard time choosing which instrument to focus on. They're so dynamic.

^Ah yes. Bass.

My favorite bassist of the three is Kashima. He did an awesome job with all the jazz stuff, and his bass playing on Little Busters (album) was awesome. He was also the most awesome live bass player. I remember one time I saw a performance of Another Morning from 1997 and he was just improvising the bass line at one point; I was amazed by his performance.

Kenji, being the original bassist, has a place in my heart, but I wish he'd stayed on a bit longer... I would've liked to see how he did the bass for Kool Spice and Living Field.

Jun is a good bassist... I don't have much to say about him.

Yeah I agree with Kashima's awesome playing but Jun clearly did a great job replacing (well sorta...you know what I mean) both of those players.
You could atleast say two words about Jun:
"Funny Bunny"

- Actually, It really sucks that the pillows hadn't added him as an "official member" yet...I think he was with the pillows longer than Ueda and Kashima put together.
what's up with that? :suspicious:

I always thought Sawao was a shit vocalist. In fact, it was the biggest hurdle I've had to overcome to really like them. For some reason, 99 out of 100 male Japanese vocalists have a terrible vocal timbre, even if they can hit all the right notes (which only happens with about half of them anyway).
