Re: The Predators are BACK
Okay, let's see:
INTRO chord progressions: totally different starting part: somewhat similar, but there are many songs with this formula
later part of intro/verse: SMTS: relies mostly on bass C.R.S.: relies primarily on guitar
prechorus: fairly similar here in the vocal area
chorus: nowhere close
Screw you all.

why wont you be satisfied, you know his strange songs. I mean, He just likes to feel music, he makes and he sings a favorite song. If you're not satisfied, disappear.

No need to be so scathing Mare. GR probably said it best:
...I think it's totally rational to say "Hm. The intro/chorus strum pattern shares similarities with the one used in Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. This probably has something to do with Sawao's influence from that band."
I think if I were to play this song for anyone who listens to 90's music, they would definitely say the same thing. The songs aren't exactly the same, we know that, but the intro is most glaring.

Actually, the only part in that song that really brings SMTS to mind is the prechorus vocal line, and a general Nirvana influence is obvious in the chord progression of the chorus. I've said it like three times now, but starting a song like that is VERY common, it's not like Nirvana invented it, and the chord progressions/instrumentation in the intro (bass focus vs. guitar focus) are so radically different that if SMTS is the first thing that comes to mind it's only because you're LOOKING for that similarity because you know Sawao likes Nirvana.

Re: The Predators are BACK
I wasn't looking for it coming into the song, it just hit me like a ton of bricks when I first listened to it. And I know that Nirvana wasn't the first or only band to do something like that, but I think people are making the comparisons between specifically Nirvana and The Predators for two reasons.
1. It's the intro. It's what you hear first obviously, and perhaps that's why it was the most glaring similairty to me betwen the songs, as well as the pre-chorus.
2. Nirvana is a very, very well known band. People are going to draw comparisons from them before a band of lesser popularity. It's going to be one of the first to come to mind as we've all heard Teen Spirit countless times on the radio, parties, our own CD players, etc.

Re: The Predators are BACK
Yeah, whatever Sawao says in the pre-chorus sounds similar to Kurt's "Hello, hello, hello, how low" in Teen Spirit.

Fine, other artists have done this before, and Nirvana is the one that's more famous/recognizable. Like Kaze said: the prechorus has the same pattern as the "Hello, Hello Hello". And the guitar intro sounds too much like SLTS. This is what everyone's been saying, In a nutshell Just because everyone's done this doesn't change the fact that it was ripped off Nirvana

No, no, and also no. You need to expand your musical repertoire or clean out your ears/learn a TINY bit about chord progressions if that intro REALLY reminds you of SLTS.
Again, doing an intro where you lead in with guitar and then add the rest of the band isn't ripping off Nirvana.
Why must I be surrounded by incompetents, overexaggerators, and idiots?
