Re: The Predators are BACK The song was all right I suppose. It reminded me of Dizzy Life, and I think even Walkin on the Spiral a bit. It just didn't sound that original. Like GR said, this isn't really differentiating too much from the pillows.

Re: The Predators are BACK It sounds about the same as the last predators album. Moderately-interesting post-grunge rock. Yeah, it has some similarities to the pillows (pretty hard to avoid given that Sawao is the frontman for both groups), but I think it's pretty ridiculous to overlook the HUGE difference in the lack of Manabe, who is crucial in creating the pillows' sound.
If you want to hear a band fronted by Yamanaka that doesn't recall the pillows' sound at all, you're probably fucked. He undoubtedly has a signature vocal and composing style, so it's hardly surprising, and I would argue not worth criticizing, that both the predators and the pillows bear the mark of his hand. Does this song have a lot of that trademark Yamanaka style? Yes. Is this the same as a pillows tune? Not by any means.

Re: The Predators are BACK that was really disapointing. Where's the blasting bass guitar that I loved in the first album.
though, this might just be the hit track from the mini-album like bakuon drop. Bakuon drop is a better song but compared to the rest of the album (except dizzy life) was pretty tame.
