Punk rock bands for me:

the adicts
the toy dolls
crass
flux of pink indians
rudimentary peni

all the classics.

back on topic-i like the noise that is produced from punk music. but i also like the old punk sound. back then it was pretty much any guitar you can find and play. there were lots of teles, strats, and LPs. basses it was all P......

well, AWP, the action can be changed.

i did exactly that with a shitty guitar and it turned into a pretty nice guitar, honestly. just pull out the nut and file it down a little bit...

man... this particular guitar was ridiculous.... it was like a centimeter from the strings to the fretboard by the tmie you got to the 10th fret... it hurt to play that guitar.

however, after learning and playing on that shitty guitar for half a year, grinding that action down made a ridiculous difference. wait a sec... we're also talking about electrics here, not acoustics. there isn't a nut to pull out and play with on an electric...

*hangs head in shame*

yeah, gear makes a bit of a difference after you go electric.

Regarding what guitars Manabe's used, It sounds like he uses a tele primarily in PML. It's probably the one he used in the Trip Dancer PV or the thin line because you can definately hear the twang in Trip Dancer, Suicide Diving, Please Mr. Lostman, etc. Probably stating the obvious to some, but you never know.

Louis XIV's The Best Little Secrets are Kept; and maybe the new Hot Hot Heat album Elevator (they're touring together). Also, Springsteen's got that new one coming out; and you've gotta get the new AC/DC DVD Family Jewels.

have you heard the new hot hot heat album yet? i streamed it through winamp (media library->winamp music->hot hot heat). it sounds pretty good.

the lyrics are still harder than hell to make out, though.

Just set price aside and get whatever guitar you truly want. If what you want is expensive, just save a while and get it, cause if you buy anything less than what you really want, you will end up unsatisfied. Also, don't exclude slightly cheaper guitars ($300-$500) just because they aren't as "high-end."

I mean, what guitar comes to mind when you think of what you want to play? Whatever that is is what you should probably get.

Again, Manabe played Teles, Strats, and all types of shit. PML is no exception.

IIRC, the 50th anniversary strat has Noiseless pickups to eliminate the 60 cycle hum from the get-go.

Judging by the fact he said that he doesn't get hum from his guitar, it's the latter.
