Re: PIED PIPER upload
Damn, my album just shipped this morning, so I have to wait a few days still. I really hope you guys are right and this is the best since TYMT. I just can't wait to tear of the plastic on the CD, pop it in the player, and rock out.
[edit] Am I the only person on the planet that really digs PURPLE APPLE?
Purple Apple has hugely grown on me, the chorus was a hugely surprising amount of AWESOME, and hearing it in full sound quality was far more impressive than that radio rip on youtube. Also, Poison Rock'n'roll is pretty damn good, I feel like it's going to be one of the more amazing ones live. Hell, remember Rock'n'roll Sinners? Not the best song in the world, but it's RIDICULOUS live. Poison Rock'n'roll is a better song that also seems to be focused on being a live song.
4. Last Holiday - They haven't laid down something so emotionally striking since, I don't know, TYMT.
Apparently somebody missed out on Moon Margaret, The scar whispers, My girl (fiction version), and Scarecrow. I'd definitely recommend downloading and checking them out.

Re: PIED PIPER upload
All of you fail to see the classic artistic genius that is PIED PIPER. It sickens me to no end to see how such people could stay so clueless at the masterpiece that SAWAO YAMANAKA has gracefully blessed us with on these troubled times. You should all feel ashamed. As I mentioned in the last thread, first we see the definition of "PIED PIPER"
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pied+piperpied piper n. 1. A person who offers others strong yet delusive enticements. 2. One, such as a leader, who makes irresponsible promises.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=YEM&defl=en&q=define:Pied+piper&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title Definitions of Pied piper on the Web: * One who uses his ability to attract others in order to lure them to their destruction. The term comes from the Legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin ... http://www.mises.org/easier/P.asp * a leader who entices people to follow (especially to their doom) * the title character in a German folk tale and in a poem by Robert Browning wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
Hear that motherfucking intro, what did you first expect? I bet everyone went: "This will be the best song in the entire CD" But then, BAM, you hear the shittiest song ever, and that, my friends, is art. I like PIED PIPER because it's a horrible song. SAWAO YAMANAKA is a music genius. Look at the track order
曲目リスト 1. PIED PIPER 2. New Animal 3. No Surrender 4. Last Holiday 5. Tokyo Zombie(The knock came at dead of night) 6. Across the metropolis 7. Purple Apple 8. Tokyo Bambi 9. Ladybird girl 10. That's a wonderful world (song for Hermit) 11. POISON ROCK’N’ROLL
The Metropolis=Tokyo Zombie=Bambi Everyone bitches because Across the Metropolis is there, but the song is a masterpiece and so was the way it was places, for a weird reason it goes in perfect distorted harmony with Tokyo Zombie, if you do not see it you are not artistic. Look at that motherfucking comparison I bet your fucking mind was just fucking blown away and shit Also, Notice how most of the track names are just simple 2-word phrases (Last Holiday, New Animal, etc) if that's not artistic I don't know what the hell it is. SAWAO YAMANAKA is so awesome, oh wow. and then Poison Rock n' Roll, what a way to end a CD, if you do not appreciate this I don't know what is wrong with you. This CD is fucking awesome, up there with Please Mr.Lostman and Little Busters SAWAO YAMANAKA is a genius. PIED PIPER is Magical. Yes, I've been trolling you guys all along [Edit: This is all for laughs, have a sense of humor :3 ]

I still think that "Last Holiday" is probably the best one since TYMT, or is at least neck and neck with Moon Margaret.

Re: PIED PIPER upload
First of all huge thanks to Mare. I love you. I can't decide if this is better than My Foot album, but I'm a My Foot fan, so... definately great album. I'll have to see how these songs grow into me. 1. Pied Piper: Just great as an opening track. Intro is awesome and I actually liked the weirdish rhytm (guitar) in verse parts. Not one of the best songs on this album but a weak link? Never! 2. New Animal: Am I the only one who thinks that this just rocks after Pied Piper. It didn't happen on the single, but now I'd just like to jump around but I'm at work so it just makes my pick hand swing. 3. No Surrender: Really, really catchy. Nothing wrong with this track. Oh yeah! 4. Last Holiday: This makes me feel the same kind of way than My Girl and Tsyogari but kinda more cheerful. I don't know which one of the guitars make that echo sound on the background and what effect/pedal it is, but I love it. 5. Tokyo Zombie: Now that I've heard this a couple of times, I think this is no Paper Triangle, but I've never been such a fan of instrumentals. I guess there have to be one, though. 6. Across The Metropolis: Not really sure why this is on album. Not bad song, but... yeah. Can't see any reason. 7. Purple Apple: I have a feeling that there will be time when I listen this nonstop for a few days. Not now though. Somehow this track doesn't talk to me like other track do. 8. Tokyo Bambi: I have never been really into this song altough it's not a bad one. 9. Ladybird Girl: I really dug this song when it came out but now it's so old... 10. That's a wonderful world: I'm glad there is a kick ass track in the end, because all those old songs kinda lamens the feeling. That's a Wonderful song. Kick ass solo and everything. 11. Poison Rock 'n' Roll: Well, ending track. Maybe a weak link... not sure though. All an all, I think the worst thing in this album is that most of it is heard before and it's quite short. Have to see how I think when all the songs are as familiar to me than the singles. At least 9/10 !

Re: PIED PIPER upload
Guest musicians for the album:
cello: Kenji Sato (Last Holiday)
chorus: Dohatsuten (Purple Apple)
and the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra people on Bambi.
No Sato vocals, that'd be the Finger Post guys actually attempting to sing instead of shout stuff out like morons.

Well, they do remind me of Sato shouting "ONE TWO THREE FOUR" in some live footage I've seen.

Re: PIED PIPER upload
Ok, after almost 24 hours of listening to all of the new songs on a loop, I'm gonna go ahead and say that Last Holiday fucking blows. It's too damn emotastic. I like the individual melodies, but together the song is sad old bastard music and I can't agree with it. If Across the Metropolis and Last Holiday weren't on the album I would enjoy it all the way through more. As it stands I can't listen to half of the album because I'm burnt out on the stuff that's already been released, and half of the new songs are far less than panty peeling. Purple Apple stuck out and that's the only song I had hopes for, and the only song that delivered for me. UNTIL there was TEXAS DAILY LIFE which is too fucking awesome for words.
PIED PIPER TOKYO ZOMBIE PURPLE APPLE
This should have just been a single.

Re: PIED PIPER upload
To be honest I think that the short overall time on the album suits it. It has a great flow and you don't feel entitled to having to listen through all the songs, it just flows so well you can listen to it over and over again and not get tired with it (I listened to it 5 times through yesterday and it still felt fresh). At least that's my opinion. Anyways I didn't feel any of the tracks were weak (especially Ladybird Girl which I didn't really catch onto when it came out ). I'm loving Purple Apple's chorus and I feel Across the Metropolis is fine (out of the all the b-sides from the 3 singles I'd say that one was my favorite so I'm happy with the choice even if it was a lazy move). And I think POISON ROCK'N'ROLL was a nice ending, it wasn't conventional (I think Sweet Baggy Days had a great approach as an ending compared to this one) but it works, mainly because none of these songs to me felt drawn out. For instance even Last Holiday wasn't that long of a song but it still is a wonderful piece and makes every second in it count, I think that's the magic of this album, it's not a long album but every song makes use of its time and stays fresh.
