Youtube has been screwing up on me lately. It will buffer everything, but will have no sound and only play for two seconds before it stops. Anyone have any tips on how to fix it?

Ok, this album is fucking win. There is not a bad song anywhere on this album, or even the singles. the pillows are just kicking ass this year.

Blank: I recognize that seal_broken posted the link originally. I was thanking you for ripping the song so that we can listen to it without going to myspace. But yes, thanks seal_broken for being awesome and nringing that to our attention. And ladybirdgirl for posting that awesome fucking link just now to the album clips. :groovin: :shred:

I've been predicting for a while now that this will be the best album since Penalty Life, hands down. I'm starting to think more and more that this must be ture.

I still wish New Animal was ballsed up in the final mix but you do hear the "more rock", more complex sound this time around, especially compared to WUx3. Actually since you guys keep bringing up Penalty Life, I am wondering what this album would have sounded like back then because I was a real fan of that album's sound eventhough the mastering was pumped way up for all the mid-2000 era albums. Fantastic energy, they amaze me with every single release.

Hey, including the single and the compliation, there have been a decent amount of English songs this time around...have you ever thought about what an All-English Pillows album would sound like? They've done so much shit in their careers I think they should do one for the hell of it. I'll ask Sawao about that next time they come to America :) :)

I'm reaaaaaaaally digging these samples so much. I love the lyrics and chorus to Pied Piper already, and geting to hear more of the album, I can definitely agree that it sounds like there's not a bad song on here.

I'm really excited to hear all of No Surrender, Last Holiday, and That's a wonderful world.

Seriously, I don't care how people thought of everything since Penalty Life, this would fit in quite well around Smile and Tymt.

EDIT: Holy SHIT, I just remembered I'm going to be hearing EVERY. ONE. OF THESE SONGS. LIVE. in July. I LOVE my life. :groovin:

On Tokyo Zombie:
Second half rocked.
First half was a mess. There was no harmony or connection between Sawao and Manabe's main guitar parts. One cool riff doesn't make the song.
Yeah, the bluesy stuff was cool. The rock stuff was cool.

I think the most exciting thing here is the sheer noise they produced (the bit with Sawao's shouting)...and then the subsequent dreamy/reverb'd/delayed section...That sounded really nice. They're exploring new stuff...I think that's great. But really, in the top THREE best instrumentals? It's just not cohesive enough. Paper Triangle had the beautiful guitar lines...then the rock-out section..back to the guitar line. Thunder Whales had a consistent heavy sound throughout, sparse vocals (live), and was riff-heavy. Better than March of the God? Perhaps. Eh.

Enjoyable, flawed, promising.

On the samples:
-No Surrender will probably be fantastic.
-Last Holiday will probably be enjoyable, yet somewhat bland.
-They included a fucking b-side (Across the Metropolis) on this album? MILK IT, SAWAO, MILK IT!
-Purple Apple is the quirkiest, and will likely be the album's weakest track.
-That's a Wonderful World seems to be the BOAT HOUSE or PATRICIA of this album, but with a little more YOUNGSTER or RUNNERS HIGH. And by that, I mean I really solid, well written song that can easily get stuck in your head. Sounds very nice.
-POISON ROCK 'N' ROLL will likely be similar to ROCK 'N' ROLL SINNERS, but with an extra helping of annoyance from those squeals/harmonics/beeps/whatever. Meh.

Alright, so did anyone get really disappointed when the previews for New Animal, Tokyo Bambi, Ladybird Girl, and Across the Metropolis came on? Seriously, 4??

I had plans to buy this album...I still may, due to the goods campaign. I dunno. Maybe.
But for a reliable 3-4 new tracks that I'll likely enjoy, the rest fairly middling or old? Eh...I dunno if it's worth the investment. I seriously have no clue what Sawao's thinking when he decides which tracks will be album tracks and which ones will be b-sides on a single. It's not just chronology...

Just imagine if Mr. Droopy and Purple Apple were swapped. Makes sense. The album's stronger, and the single fits more of the mold of what a single should be. The best track at the front, and the tracks not hot enough for the album OR to be singles stuck in the back as b-sides. Sawao confuses me.

Anyway. :/

Well, the pillows' b-sides have been consistantly amazing throughout their entire career. Maybe Sawao just wants his b-sides to not be something that's forgotten, as they usually are with most other bands. But at the same time you have tracks on the actual album that are very forgetable, i.e. Degeneration. Wakare no Uta would have sounded good on My Foot in my opinion.

But I'm gonna hold off on these samples, I still want to be a little bit surprised. I understand what GR is getting at. It kind of sucks that we've heard more than half the album already before it's release, but if what you guys say is true and these samples seem to be leading to some awesome songs, then the investment in the actual album is still well worth it.

I still think that song doesn't get enough appreciation, I think people thought it "too pop" or something. :(

I didn't get disappointed when I heard the previews for the other songs that we've already got because I like them a lot, and like the order they put them in on the album. But I can see what you mean when you've already heard half the album and therefore don't want to toss out thirty bucks plus shipping on it.

I like all of the songs on here DESPITE Across the metropolis being the same. But... when I heard Ladybird girl, I thought, "Wait, isn't this song like a year old now?" I like those beeps in POISON ROCK'N'ROLL, BTW. :D

Something that's been confusing me for a while now:

I don't get how people can love Mr. Droopy but find Ladybird girl to be just "okay" or even "meh." :?

IS THIS LOVE? Apparently not. :(

Yeah... I agree. I feel as though it'll be hard for me to enjoy this album because I've been listening to the new stuff since... well, before it was even officially released. I practically knew New Animal before the damn single came out. Same with this album... Every time something new comes out I suck it up dry before I can even get my hands on the actual studio released audio (CDs). I think I should stop listening to the pillows for a while.

And yes, Purple Apple seems to be the candidate for "weakest link" on the album. It sounded kind of like "Bite Me" except... it wasn't as good.

And yeah, I love Mr. Droopy AND Ladybird Girl. Both songs are very good, though I'd say Ladybird Girl is the better song, overall.
