^I agree, it's not mind-blowing, but it's pretty good, defintely better than Make Believe. TGMTEL is friggin amazing, and I'm actually kind of digging Thought I Knew too. Angel in the One is pretty cool, and the full band version of Pig is just spectacular!

And if you guys didn't know, the Japanese bonus track to the album is actually a BoA cover, Merri Churi. It should be pretty interesting to hear, especially that guitar solo. :shred: Someone from the albumsix boards should have it up by tomorrow apparently. I'll post it here.

Are you kidding me? Thought I Knew is without a question the weak link on the album.

Now excuse me I'm gonna go listen to The Greatest Man for the 15th time in 24 hours.

My favorite song from the new album. It's like a history lesson of Weezer in one track!

Now I know that TGMTEL is the greatest song on the album without a doubt. But Thought I Knew as the "weakest link"? Heart Songs anyone? Seriously, that song is so unbelievably boring, especially the first two and a half minutes. How Heart Songs made it and Miss Sweeny didn't is beyone me. Miss Sweeny was bad ass. :shred:

I could say the same to you, but to each their own.

Anyways, here's that BoA cover I was talking about, Meri Kuri:

Rivers singing in Japanese is pretty good, and I like the inclusion of the harmonica. But I was really looking forward to how he'd make that guitar solo sound which is unfortunately absent.

My favorite song is a tie between TGMTEL and Pig, after that comes Heart Songs. Troublemaker, King, and The Angel and the One are also very good.

I don't really get your hate for Heart Songs. The lyrics are interesting and although the chords are the same throughout, they mesh well with the song.

Pig was a surprise to me. I've heard the demo version before, but the full band version is great. I love the story the song tells and the theme.

Red Album (Deluxe) is definitely up there on Weezer's best albums.

I think I might get the Japanese edition along with Pied Piper for the hell of it, and buy the four bonus songs from the US deluxe edition off the Amazon mp3 store, and wind up with one 17 song mega-album.

That's just it about Heart Songs, no variety. Not until about the 2:30 mark when you get the guitars actually coming in, but even then it's still the same thing, over and over. I don't absolutely hate the song, but it's definitely my least favorite on the album.

Pig though your right about, it's excellent. I'm so glad they gave it the full band treatment. King is really growing on me too. And Dreamin' has been getting better with every listen. It's a beautiful song and pobably one of the best post-Pinkerton songs written.

Screw it, I'm just going to buy the deluxe US edition for 12 bucks instead of the Japanese edition for 23 and try to hunt down the three Japan-specific bonus songs on teh intarwebs.

On a related note, if anybody has those few songs in 256 or 320kbps it'd be much appreciated.

Edit: There are two iTunes bonus songs, too, so I'm going to build up a 19-track mega-album.

That is hopefully good.

Although a fan of the original, I cannot believe how much better "Merry-Chri" is with Rivers singing it. It makes me want to hear Weezer do an entire album of Japanese covers ^_^ (imagine Weezer covering "My Girl" or "Midnight Down").

There's a live acoustic version of "King" on MTV's website.

I think it's as good as the album version.

I just got the new weezer album while shopping for socks.

so far I like it a ton, I need to give the second half of the album a good listen. I had it playing while I was doing hw so I didnt get much from the later songs.

I also gotta get myself off of my favorite two songs which are Troublemaker and Pork'n'beans. I dunno which order. TGMTEL is third and heart songs is fourth, but TGMTEL only beats heartsongs because of how well put together TGMTEL is and how monotone heartsongs is until the sweetness when he talks about discovering nirvana.

I think you're thinking of the wrong song. Heartsongs is probably more a history lesson of Weezer. TGMTEL is a satire of a bunch of music genres.

It's actually more of a hsitory lesson on Rivers Cuomo. I don't know if you got the deluxe version, but the liner notes explain it a little more. But yea, the second half of the song is amazing, especially if you're including the 4 bonus tracks. Angel and the One, Miss Sweeny, and then Pig one after the otehr is just amazing. :D
