I second that view. Frankly, listing just five was hard as shit, and Spiky Goose is definitely one of the best.

Aside from just being their best B-side, "Skeleton Liar" is quite possibly their best song as well.

"Skeleton Liar" was my first true love when it comes to the pillows. I would definitely match it to "Moon Marguerite," and throw "Bokura no Hare Suisei" in there as well (WI version, please - although popular appreciation goes to the TB version, so let's throw that in, as well). I suppose such close and strong preferences change with the time of day.

But hey, if I could easily pick one song by the pillows as my favorite, they wouldn't be one of my favorite bands. Just don't ask me what my favorite Queen song is.

I have always liked their b-sides. There must be a reason for that... Maybe they are great songs that the band thinks not suitable for album? I don't know. There is probably only one single where there isn't a b-side better that the single song, and that is The Third Eye.

I'm usually big on the "music is subjective, and you can like the sound of cows mooing if that's what you're into" argument, which I bring up every now and then...but [i]damn[/i], you just have to like "Skeleton Liar," or you are not a pillows fan.

The points you guys are making about Skeleton Liar could just as effectively be made about many of the B-sides produced around the same period. These guys were shitting gold back then.
