This thread is old, and I'm new, but on the account of the pillows being old, I disagree. In Japan, 80 is not old. At 80, women still have regular jobs. Being 40 in Japan is like being 30 in the States. In regards to being old in the music, I have two-and-a-half words for you. Southern All-Stars.
And as for them going downhill, many bands need to take a break to find themselves, and then they come back again. Or maybe they won't. Or maybe they'll form new groups. Sawao was at the final performance of Thee Michelle Gun Elephant's LAST HEAVEN tour, October 2003, and TMGE broke up after only 10 years together. But Chiba Yusuke is still rocking as both a solo artist and in the band ROSSO. Same with the other boys. TMGE and the pillows have been friends for many years. Who knows what's in store for the pillows?

I know this is an old thread... but just for the record: There was a lot of Sawao stage diving in the US.
Not that I think stage diving really matters.
