Never have read the manga, but the show was pretty good.

the american release or the whole thing altogether? I had been keeping up with the manga a bit. it was getting kinda ridiculous, but it was a decent read.
I used to read Japanese comic books. Then I finally decided that $10 for under an hour's worth of paper-and-ink entertainment was too much buck for the bang. There's a lot of great manga out there, but it's really geared towards the Japanese...who pay, what, like, $3 MAX per installment? The cost of translations/importing is too much to bear. I think it appeals to people's collector-instinct.
I whole heartedly agree with this quote. Luckily, my library has a wide selection of them!

Mangas cost way to much. 10 or so
I finish one in atleast 30 or so minutes. Worth it? Not so much. I just watched the the anime. Poorly translated. But i understood plenty to know what was going on.

The cartoon at least somewhat made sense, since it was about music, and you could actually hear, like...the music. That said, I can't imagine what redeeming value the comic books have.

yeah i read the scans as well, i've bought one manga before and that was the first Beck as a keepsake.
But in all honesty, i was beginning to lose interest in the manga. It started taking itself way too seriously, even though it was becoming a bit obvious really don't know enough about being musicians and how the record labels work. a few examples (spoilers):
-waaay too many gang related, ruthless, bloodthirsty record execs. ONE in any series is probably too much. this series has at least 3. also gang members that resemble Samuel L. Jackson and Snoop Dogg. christ, lol. -the members of Beck becoming EXHAUSTED. OFTEN. after sets as short as 30 minutes. who knew a group of normal looking umteen/twenty somethings had the endurance of Michael Moore running in the New York City Marathon. -i don't think any single song by any musician, living or dead, was as worshipped, fapped upon, or caused people to threaten the lives of others as much as Devil's Way. this one dude writes PART of a song, dies before he finishes it, and all of a sudden its like someone stole the fucking U.S. Constitution.
its still mildly entertaining though, despite all that. but it was kinda dragging on. It's probably time for the creator to move on to something else.

I've read BECK MCS and found it to be way better than the anime. The only thing that the manga has that the anime doesn't is that it goes way past the anime. It does feel like it's been dragging on in the past few volumes. I just hope that the ending doesn't suck.
