I finally got around to reading 1984. Well, I had to anyway for a book circles group in my Brit Lit class, but I enjoyed it a lot. It's probably one of my favorites, up towards the top with A Clockwork Orange.

Both of those books are so good, and everybody should read them.

I'm reading Across the Nightingale Floor[which I think is boring so far] and Kim[which is intolerable to read after ten minutes]. I'm going to have to read Huckleberry Fin for english next year, and despite it being an "american classic", I have a feeling I'm going to hate it.

Huckleberry Finn = good when you finish it. It's a great book overall, and I dig Twain, just not so much WHILE reading it.

Huckleberry Finn = boring and dreadful while you're reading it.
No, when was it written? What's it about?
It was written near the end of the meiji period i believe, i just lent it to my teacher. but Basically its about different levels of relationships, with friends and family, and how man tries to deal with his loneliness. Its a novel, but its almost poetic, but its amazing. You can learn quite a good deal from this book. the translator seems to have done a good job
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokoro
you can read the begining and preview the book

For my next English assignment, we're going to be doing an analyzation of a text.

I'm going to choose The Art of War. So, I'll definitely be re-reading that again. Always a good and enlightening read.

Okay guys... since everyone's raving about Murakami, I went to the Borders at the mall here and got Kafka on the Shore. It was the only Murakami book they had here, so I'm going to start reading it Friday when I go home on the train.
Not my favorite, but it's good. One of his strangest, though... if you don't like that one, do give a different one a shot.

I never finished Catch-22, so I've started it again.
Actually I finished it on Saturday and thought it was very good and well written. I was very surprised. I'm going to the bookstore here tomorrow, and I'll pick up whatever other Murakami books they have.

Well, it is good and well written, like everything of his. Some people like it best, but I'm not one of those people. Still, I liked it a lot. All I can say is that if you liked Kafka, there are a lot of other great books by Murakami waiting for you.
