Some of the stuff from the Q&A panel:
- worst part about touring the US: flying
- best part about touring the US: HAMBURGER (sawao)
- Sawao likes to play paraparapa (I'm not sure whether he meant 'para para' or 'parapa the rapper'... maybe somebody with better ears remembers)
- Apparently Manabe is playing Persona and Shin likes to play Final Fantasy
- future US tour? (and I quote) 'MAYBE'
- why did they decide to tour the US? no particular reason (I have to wonder if something got lost in translation here...)
- why are they wearing shades (to the panel)? to look like rock stars. Sawao lifted his glasses up and went 'ordinary man!', then put them back on- 'rock star!'
- same old questions about their favorite band, how they got their name, why do they like to use english words in their songs, etc
- what are their favorite english words? Sawao: ... (thinks about it for a while and doesn't really answer) Manabe: 'SHOW ID PLEASE' - they commented how in Japan they don't check for ID a lot but in the US they do, it's kind of a compliment when they do it when you're obviously old enough ?
- who speaks the best english? Manabe
- favorite album/project? the new (next) one
- someone did ask if they would play older songs, Sawao says he can't because he doesn't know them anymore
- do they get a better reaction when they play FLCL songs? 'MOCHIRON!' (of course)
- is Irene in that song that has the word sunshine in it named after Irene from Ninja Gaiden? (yeah someone really asked this) no, but the 'Irene' is from Gattaca (Uma Thurman) which is kinda cool
- what's the strangest question you've been asked? your question!
- what Japanese bands do you recommend? ELLEGARDEN, Straightener, Chatmonchi (I think?), Bump of Chicken, the Pees, etc
- do you have a 'home' venue? Penny Lane
Summary: it was fun and all, but I think I'll be choosing to not go to a con again for the pillows... unbelievable that it took almost 4 hours to get a badge (preregistered), and lining up 2+ hours ahead of time for the concert gets you a seat halfway to the back. I knew it would be a lot of people but it was ridiculous... (moreso the badge thing)
Oh and last but not least as they were leaving the Q&A, Sawao pointed at me and said 'I REMEMBER YOU!'
edit: added more stuff I remembered
