get on topic or get a lock. We can talk about gitaroo man in the geekery section. I'm pretty sure there's already a thread about it.

Trying to get a friend into the pillows...
Hey guys. I recently tried to get a friend of mine into the pillows. She, like me, is a pianist. Anyways, while we were driving down the street, I played her Little Busters, Funny Bunny, and Hybrid Rainbow... and she HATED all of it.
So anyways, I was just like "Well, guess the pillows just aren't for her..." (she listens to rock/pop, and plays classical piano... thought I was spent), but then, today, she totally went all out about how she loves jazz music, and she let me listen to some of her tracks (she just go into jazz).
So I was thinking I'd give the pillows another go for her... with Kool Spice and Living Field. What tracks do you think she'd be interested in? The jazz she was listening to had a swingy feel to it, and the vocalist was a female, VERY talented at that weird... "du-op" thing... (don't think that's right but...). Anyways, any suggestions? I've already got some ideas... but I'd like a second opinion.

eh, I dunno. If she's into jazz, she might find the stuff from Kool Spice interesting, but no guarantees she'll like it, since it's still very much pop rock. I'd give Kool Spice a go, particularly koi no Spy ni ki wo tsukero!

Really? Come down is one of the first songs I'd put on the list, FLCL arranged or not. Personally, I like it better with the lyrics, but it's a great song to pull any big fan of hard rock into the pillows.

I absolutely love the intro to Nightmare... it's just... chill.
Can anyone tell me if what's in the intro to that song is a specific music style?

It's just soft rock, as far as I can describe it. It's not swing or anything, which the pillows are prone to pull out pretty randomly (but frickin awesomely!). I might be way off about the chords, but I just listened to it again, and it has a bluesy sort of fee because of a couple reasons. The bass line is walking down chromatically, and it hits a bVI chord (Am --> Ab). So it's has a blues influence. But then again, rock and roll IS a blues influence, so there you have it.
