To be honest, I kind of get annoyed when I watch FLCL now because of the pillows songs. Not really annoyed, but before I listened to the pillows and just watched the show, it was like the music fit. Now it just seems really edited and out of place. In the first episode, I think, they were mixing runner's high with advice and it just came off kind of annoying.
Anywho, yeah, there's people who annoy me for only knowing anime songs, but also, I really hate it when people only listen to Japanese music. Knowing every single note that Sawao wrote is just as bad as only knowing Hybrid Rainbow, in my opinion, if you're still only listening to it because it came out of the Japans.
I used to be one of those ZOMG JAPANESE MUSIC IS SO GOOD (although I never got into anything like DEG or L'Arc En Ciel because I associated them with V-kei fangirls.) types of people who would still listen to American music they'd listen to before getting into Japanese music, but wouldn't really listen to anything new unless it was Japanese. I'm glad I grew out of that.
Anywho, the moral of the story is that I'm better than all of you because I first kissed my girlfriend while watching the director's commentary (which is in Yapanese, mind you.) for FLCL episode 2.

What’s the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long and goodnight
I liked Helena quite a bit, fun video and memorable hook.
Hmmm, I never developed a distaste for MCR. I don't understand the fashion, but I don't really mind it either. I thought their music was ok (barring the song Black Parade olol WHEN I WAS), and compared to P!ATD's Nine In The Afternoon ("You could cause you can so you do," hideous, no, no, NOOOOOO!!!! ) I wouldn't mind if they had a few more hits.
I've seen the Panic video once. At the end when they bring in the strings, all the band members start playing air-violins. That only sends me the message that they want to convey to the watcher, "Hey everybody! There is a string section in this song! Listen to it, yeah! Aren't we original buggers?"
I haven't watched FLCL in a while.
zomg, I just realized I haven't listened to anything from the LB-RH-HB arc in quite some time, either.

Oh, Rhino mentioned MCR in the beginning. I didn't want to write about FLCL overfans because I don't know any/haven't seen any. I think I just wrote whatever I was thinking at the moment. Yup, lol.

Well, I was more venting in this topic. I basically just cruised through You Tube movies while seeing the Ride on Shooting Star song comment several times (outside of that song's videos/pvs)
Generally, I am completely friendly to people this way (Actually I got my friends and several other people into the pillows by showing them their other songs), but over time it's gotten really annoying because I've seen what I consider "a new type of Otaku" (which is probably a lie that it is new) where they know that the band or group exists outside of the particular show, but only acknowledge their Anime songs as good or existing... So now hearing people say that is kind of irritating, but I'm a completely passive aggressive person so they'd never know that it was irritating to me. So I came here to vent and to see if anyone else felt similar in any way. I probably blame the series because I don't want to blame the people, lol.
So yeah, I like FLCL, but I've probably been more cynical with their fans because of that and because of Gainax Fan's reputation with Eva (refusing to hear or understand a person's opinion that they may not like the show as much as them while they still understand what it's talking about... so basically, being hardheaded) They've also definitely made me like a show less, not because of image of being an obscure short series now popular (was it ever really obscure though...?), but because it reminds me of some people and distasteful opinions.

Lol, that is lucky, lol, but at the same time if the same thing had happened to me I'd be more embarrassed for not having a girlfriend until 2000, so I have no regrets, lol. (I'm not that young)
Actually, I am one of those people who only listen to Japanese music (well, actually that is a lie, but since 80% of the music I listen to is Japanese I make that claim). It's more of a taste though, definitely not because I think it makes me look "cool". (Often it's more embarrassing, lol)

I listen to Japanese music because I like how poetic the language is.

I haven't watched FLCL again in some time but it still holds a dear place in my heart. I don't really deal with many other people who are anime fans so... whatever? (I may change my mind at Anime Boston... >_>)

Was that serious? If so, is English not poetic? Or any other language? How the hell do you even KNOW it's poetic, when you don't speak it? Do you mean it sounds poetic? And if so, explain why it does? ;p Three hundred words or less.
