Favorites of 2007?
Curious about what people liked the most.
My 10 favorite movies of the year...
10 knocked up
9 the darjeeling limited
8 superbad
7 ratatouille
6 3:10 to yuma
5 once
4 lars and the real girl
3 juno
2 there will be blood
1 no country for old men
Killed me to not have Hot Fuzz on there. It's pretty much tied for 10.
Great year for movies. Some other ones are close like Sweeney Todd, Bourne Ultimatum, American Gangster, Grindhouse, The Host, Blake Snake Moan...
Guilty pleasure of the year - Fantastic Four 2.

I've seen Superbad quite a few times and it's yet to get old. I didn't expect it to have any real heart to it, but the fact that it turns out being about friendship and moving on and whatnot really connected with me.
I forgot about Die Hard 4, that rocked too. Lots of A-list action stuff this year. I'm among the people who loved Pirates 3, too (yet I hated hated hated 2).

Now I don't want to say that poor reviews = bad quality = poor taste in movies. I wouldn't want to go that far, no.
But I think it's interesting to point out that those three movies on your top 10 got an average of "ABYSMAL/10" from critics.

Beowulf was pretty good.
Edit: Definitely wouldn't but it on any top ten list, though.

Grindhouse involved Tarantino and is, therefore, immune to critics. Either way, though, it seems to me that both films got generally positive reviews.

It doesn't have to be an Oscar-winner or an "indie" film to be good.
I don't really have a list, but I'd probably pick the Host as my favorite. I also really liked the first 3/4 of I Am Legend. I have yet to see Sweeney Todd, 3:10 to Yuma, No Country For Old Men, and There Will Be Blood. They might make my list.

I hate the new Rottentomatoes layout. I don't know what they're thinking.
And yeah, I Am Legend was pretty good until I guess they ran out of ideas in the third act.
