I thought it was brilliant. It was exactly the kind of movie I wanted it to be, and it pulled it off in spectacular fashion.
The viral stuff for this is amazing, too. Check this out (IF YOU'VE SEEN IT) and be sure to follow all the links to various pages it gives you. Lots of cool "additional" stuff on the movie, from that weird thing after the credits to the Slusho company to where the monster might come from...

What did you expect to happen?
The premise of the movie is that it's all filmed on a camcorder. When no one is left to hold the camera, how is the movie supposed to continue?

They're doing an excellent job with these clues. Most of the characters have MySpaces, the Slusho websites, etc. I can't wait to see this movie.

The thing about a movie is that it has writers, and they have the magical power (and responsibility) to write around any issues that result in suckage.

No, no, no. I know the "premise" of the movie. I just thought it sucked. I don't like cliffhangers regardless of the reason.

I didn't really take it as a cliffhanger ending.
(spoilers) The two got the shit nuked out of them, and are hilariously dead. (/spoilers)
The movie is about the people we're following, the big conflict with the monster is just propelling everything along, it's not really the focus of the movie (which is why a lot of people aren't liking it).

They're also leaving it open for a sequel, perhaps taking place at the same time as this film, but looking at the events from the perspective of someone else. Maybe then they would shed more light on what may have happened after the end of this one.

I thought it was a cliffhanger ending, since it just you know... ends abruptly. I just like knowing things.
Like knowing how the monster dies... or how the monster finishes of all humanity. You know, stuff like that. I know they might be leaving space for a sequel, but .

Saw this last night, I thought it was good. It's not really a cliffhanger ending, because the tape is recovered after the "incident" is over, as it says at the very beginning of the movie.
edit: btw, WAAAAAAAY better than "there will be blood." Way better. And I didn't get dizzy, you guys are weak/weird.

Given that, in the universe of the movie, you're supposedly watching a video they found of said incident... one can draw a couple conclusions. But in the end you're not supposed to know the whole story, you're supposed to hypothesize endlessly on the Internet.

Woah, there's a Cloverfield tie-in in the 10th episode of season 2 of Heroes.

Well, in and out, I'm sure they were able to kill the monster... I mean, it's not like it was Sin from FFX, invincible. I doubt it would be able to survive a full scale army strike (which is what happened at the end of the movie).
