I think we can all agree that since he formed GNB he's been playing guitar a hell of a lot less than he used to in Going Steady, with the exception of acoustic songs. Well sure, he may pick up the guitar in some lives, but I can raise your Kakunete Seishun with like a dozen other lives in which he runs around screaming, munching on voice amplification devices, and beating up on the other members of the band. I'm not saying they suck or it makes them terrible, it's just that they're notorious for sacrificing a bit of musicianship for their crazy antics during live shows.

Keep in mind, though, that he plays guitar at least part of the time on both of their new singles' title tracks (Ai Don Wana Dai and Hikari).

I think they do it for the songs that need it. Nipponjin doesn't want a rhythm guitar part. It wants Mineta going crazy.
One cool thing about GNB is that they aren't limited to one sound. They can do manic punk rock followed by catchy pop rock and conclude with a folky ballad, using rhythm guitar where they see fit.

I saw the live vids of Hikari and... really wasn't that impressed. Mineta got all emotional, but otherwise I didn't find it too remarkable. Doesn't help that Chin was playing a [i]Strat. D:[/i]
I haven't heard the video/studio version yet, maybe I'll like it more.
