topic locked?
I know this board has the typical amount of poster abuse.
but I wanted to know why my topic in the pillows section got locked.
was the question really that stupid? Because I have done even more searching and stll havent found the answer.
I searched the forums too, nothing.
so does this just mean that a mod didnt like such a simple question? Was it in the wrong forum?
I mean, I dont so much mind that it was locked rather that there was no reason given. It's the principle of it.
it just reeks of interweb douchebaggery. I know it's hip to be a asshole on the internet but where do you draw the line?

I agree that all locks should be accompanied by an explanatory post, although I also think that it is pointless to lock any thread that has people posting in it. At most, a thread should only ever be moved (to the KF, at least). Otherwise, if there is no demand for a thread, wouldn't it slowly die out and become lost in the pages of the past? Yes, it would.
Come on, moderators. Work smarter, not harder.

I quoted that three times, because I agree really hard with sheer.
By the way, it's a triceratops.
in before "The topic was just going to degenerate into a flood of off-topic posting/trolling."
Even still, he may have gotten the answer he was looking for. If you think the topic is a "waste of space", then move it to KF, or just don't click on it. No one is forcing you to click a thread and read all of the posts in it. The thread's title in "The Pillows" section takes up very little space on the page. Just pass it by and let the posters communicate and have a good time.
Threads should only be locked in the event of a forum raid, or when something completely off topic is posted (even then, it should be moved to KF).
In the end, it was a discussion about album art, which was met by a few eye-roll posts, in response to the utter "Carnival has LYRICS?"-ness of the question.
edit: I should've been a mod...

But if you stood up for your beliefs, you would have unlocked it.
Unless it was a terralock. We can't really criticize any of her actions, though, because as a direct owner of the site, she should have free reign to do as she wishes. But odds are, it was not a terralock.
Also, a triceratops is clearly identifiable by its three horns (one being directly above the nostrils, and two above the eyes) and large, distinguishable frill. I count zero horns on the My Foot dinosaur, and it doesn't appear to have anything close to a frill. Despite any other physiological similarities to a triceratops, it is not one. Therefore, it was officially not a stupid question.

Oh damn. I totally remembered the dinosaurs head differently. Definitely not a triceratops, definitely a legit question.

It was a Jomei lock. The question was essentially a scientific one regarding dinosaur species. It also appeared that we were only going to get spam/joke responses to it, so I figured we should clean up the garbage.
Lately we have a new thread every single time someone notices a new video on youtube or a video is taken off youtube, and now a question about dinosaurs. Could this question not have been posted in an already existing thread about the album? I'm pretty sure we already have a discussion about the album cover somewhere.
If you'd prefer, I can move it to the living field, but I don't think it belongs in the pillows discussion area. :/ The image is from a pillows album cover, but the discussion pertains to dinosaurs.
All of your knickers --> out of a knot.

If you want to ignore my reasoning and lump my intentions into a generalization like that so it's easier for you to understand, go ahead. I locked it because it seemed not to belong where it was. When I saw the objections I realized I should have moved it rather than locked it, so I fixed the problem. Let it go.

MOD EDIT (by mare): this post is pointless. please ignore.
True. But you really shoudln't lock them. If you don't like them
Just move them to the killing filed. "Post at your own risk" huh?
Even the catch to is You can post what ever you want
So rather then you getting tired of seeing dumb post that
YOU dislike. Just move them there. And YOU let it go.

Well, it appears that Jomes has both acknowledged and corrected his lapse of judgment and temporary subversion of logical thought processes, so you're beating a dead horse, Metal.

I locked instead of moved, Metal, but I fixed it, so feel free to discuss dinosaurs to your heart's content.

Ahhhh i just kept reading this didn't bother to look
haha =) My Apology Mr.Jomie
Still if people want to talk about dinosaurs or dragons let them.
It's good to just have something to talk about once in a while rather then having no post at all.
Shows that this site is "freindly" or tried to be
Rather then just locking anything you don't like.~_~

It's pronounced "homie," he wasn't using a nickname.
