as cheap and uninspired as i cant help but feel their recent works are, they're still the motherfucking pillows.
Basically.

I'm actually not terribly let-down by Wake Up. In fact, I like it. I don't like Ladybird Girl and think it is pretty much worthless. I don't agree that Sawao's creativity is completely down overall... but I'd agree with the sentiment that Ladybird Girl is terribly uninspired.

Something that kinda irks me is in the PV when the camera has that tight shot of him strumming and you barely see the fingers move. Those notes even look lackluster, lulz... sigh... :| All those subtle verses keep making it feel like it's gonna lead up to something big, but by the time the chorus hits the third time, it completely loses the "wow, great chorus!" and goes all "time to wrap it up." It's weird, I can dig it and appreciate the sound as it's running through, it seems appropriate for the mood, but it's like a light switch flipping off at 3:06. It just gives up. If he fully intended that section to only be nine damn seconds, then I'd have to say he wasted the song right there. It's an incomplete piece to me.

I know I've said it all before, but damn, it's true everytime I play it. :(

And Hello! stands well, though. I think it's clever, the delivery is spot on, it feels as though it can adapt to different moods, it's just cool.

i thinks it's at this point in the thread where i reveal the ironic fact that even though i've been defending them wholeheartedly, i hadnt even taken the time to listen to the new single, as ive been into so much other music lately.. that said"

i just watched/heard ladybird girl for the first time.

it's really good.

or, at least, a million times better than scarecrow.

i think i should probably, um, actually listen to WUx3. i still havent. D'OH.

I liked Ladybird Girl, didn't like the attached song. I liked Scarecrow. Overall, I liked WU!x3, but less than My Foot. That's it in a nutshell.

I think I must be in the minority for thinking that the song Wake Up!dodo is the best thing they've done since the Third Eye.

Whatever. Just hurry up and get something else new out, Sawao, so I can forget about this single.

You're not. I agree, its so colorful, off beat, and different. It's probably my 2nd favorite on WUx3 as far as personal preference. But it's probably the best written thing on the album.

that's what got us here in the first place!

NO U

nooooooo.... don't troll at my expennnnnnnnnse... I never did anything to youuuuuuuuu...

Seriously though, I understand why the x is there, but it's not really a game breaker. I think it looks cooler. It's identifiable enough, unless they make two more albums titled, "Wake Up!", then I'm screwed, lol.
Did anyone else find it funny that jedi took the time to make a graph in order to say "the pillows suck"?

This.

The holy trinity has and always will be Living Field, Please Mr. Lostman and Little Busters. However, concerning their career, it would be LB, RH, and HB.

Rhino, I stay cuz I love.

My opinion is the only one that matters. :)

Wake Up!dodo would've been the best thing since Third Eye, but the chorus just killed it for me.

MY FOOT is ten times better than Wake Up^3. The songs on Wake Up^3 are just terrible. I know that great musicians steal, but I felt as though Sawao had took songs by Beat Crusaders (Youngster) and The Fratellis (Boat House) and just arranged them to his own liking. And lest we forget the rearranging of his own songs. The album forcibly turns me away as much as an album like Little Busters would pull me in to listen.

Sawao isn't the first and he's certainly not going to be the last musician to beat the dead horse. Obviously, it's pretty clear they will never go back to something like Living Field or PML, but it wouldn't hurt to jazz up the songs a bit (no pun intended). That's why TYMT was refreshing, in some sense.

ok so, i read the first page of this thread. i'm done. and i have to say something that will make all of you want to kill yourselves---
I LIKE GOOD DREAMS!!! (GASP) A LOT! O___O so there...
and I ALSO like Ladybird Girl. A lot. Sure, I guess one could call me a fan that likes "ALL" of their stuff, but that's not necessarily true. i've never been that big a fan of strange chameleon (GASP GASP) I think people need to stop looking at their works at a creative level and more at an emotional level. after i listened to the acoustic version of strange chameleon, i decided that it's a lot better than i made it out to be.
it just works that way. i'm sure all of you would be excited if they just played and hello! at a concert. sure maybe not as much as some other songs, but just their presence is enough because of the passion they generate.

I love GOOD DREAMS with all my heart, and will never cease to stop saying that it is severely underrated.

Thank you Jedi. Many of the same reasons why I didn't like the WU!3 either.

It's so weird because I ended up liking My Foot a lot more than I ever expected to, despite several stinkers, but WU!3 just left me completely cold. There were two or three decent songs on it, but it's just so hard to justify that album being worth a listen, let alone a purchase, when I could be listening to something like Kouya ni Okeru bloodthirsty butchers that blows WU!3 out of the water.

I didn't mind the Ladybird Girl single. And Hello was forgettable, but Ladybird Girl at least had a few melodies I enjoyed. It's more of a keeper for me than the album.

I also like Good dreams ^_^
About Ladybird girl, when I first heard about it I was like "YES A NEW PILLOWS SONG!!!!!!!!" Since I really enjoyed My Foot(I have been meaning to buy it, but can't find it anywhere, and I even ordered it from borders, but never arrived, so I just downloaded :P) and I sort of liked Wake up x 3, I was totally excited abotu it. I saw the video and heard the song and I said, "O.o that's kinda wierd" but then I staretd to listen to the song again and I sort of liked it, specially the chorus.
Wake up x3 does have it's flaws, but I think everything has been said, and if I say anything, it will just be a loophole.
I think Wake up x3 is sort of like Moon Gold, it had 1 or 2 good songs(Like Ami ni Utaeba TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG!! I'm currently tabbing it) and not many peopel like it. My friend sayd it was one of teh worst of the pillows, I say it was alright, not tha bad. Just prsonal opinion.
