I put this together in Audacity this morning. Loop & Loop, Mirai no Kakera, Mugen Glider. I lol'd at Gotoh's vocal melodies.
That's actually one of the reasons why I never got into them. I thought they were decent, but when I continued to listen to them; I thought I was listening to the same songs over and over again. I checked the songs and sure enough, they were all different, but sounds the same. That and the lead vocalist doesn't sound that good. At times, it sounds like he'd like to sing a higher pitch; but can't, so he settles for a lower pitch.

Have you HEARD the man's falsetto? It makes me ragingly jealous. Gotoh is ANYTHING BUT a bad singer. He's amazing at his vocals. And though he enjoys using a syllable-based rhythm for some songs, how can you listen to those and say they all sound the same? All the melodies on all the instruments and vocals, and especially the feeling of the instruments, are different in each one. :/

As far as I can remember, I never heard his falsetto. As I said, he'd always sing lower when i was listening. I downloaded their discography awhile back. Well I overexaggerated, but 1 in every 4 songs sounded the same. Because I just put their whole discography on the playlist, I thought that the songs that sounded the same were on the singles, until I checked the song names.
To each his own.

I personally LOVE Asian Kung-Fu generation. i think their styles is sort of unique, but similar at the same time. Their early works are OK, but their new stuff is really great. I think Feedback File is a great CD and the 2 new songs in them are great. The Re:Re live is FANTASTIC, i totally love it, play it on the car when I'm driving to get pumped
Aru Machi no Genju is an excelent Single, although the second song is alright, Aru Machi no Genju is awesome, totally love it
I heard their new ALbum is coming out, and I'm totally anticipating it's release I have their whole discography and single sso if anyone need em, PM em and I'll gladly share. Ajikan is one of my favorite bands, side from The Pillows(Pillows is numero uno)
Mhh my favorite song would either be Blue Train, Hold me tight(Love thsi song although no solo in it ), Uso to Wonderland(Kitas voice is awesome, he is also coming out with another song where he sings in the new album ) and Song of Blue.

I've listened to some AKG stuff, but to me they're just okay. A few tracks here and there are pretty good but they kind of have this sound that makes me think of Green Day/emo shit with the only difference being a vocal that doesn't twang and sound all fucking emo and whiny and shit. Seriously, if you substitute the vocals/lyrics in pretty much every track with that emo-shit-eater whiny voice, you have yourself an emo band.

My host brother actually turned me to AKG while I was in Japan. He was playing Blackout in his room and I had to go up there and get him for dinner, then I heard it later in a commercial and was like "holy crap! deja vu."
They are really the only band that I own all of their songs...

I have to agree... it's not that the songs have the same melodies, rhythms or anything like that, but that the band seems to express a limited emotional range. Most of the songs I've heard have the same feel, if that makes any sense. It's not particularly bad, just not interesting.

It's interesting for the first five-six songs you hear and then it's just like, "o waitasec.." It's the partial reason I never downloaded more AKG, because after the first ten songs, they weren't impressive anymore.

Simply: they're a fun band who are getting better with each album. It's songs like "Angou no Waltz," "Blackout" and "Blue Train" that make me think one day I could really like this band.

I really just love these guys I love all the songs. At times though the guitar work can be better but I know they can really play some great guitar like with the song "Jyuuni Shinhou no Yuukei" I think that is there most complex song really cool stuff in their. Actually some of their indie work was more complex with the guitar work Good news too they have announced their new single "AFTER DARK" 1. After Dark (アフターダーク) 2. Yuigahama Kite (由比ヶ浜カイト) The release date is supposed to be November 7th So that means soon there will be a new PV of this song!

I still really like AKG. They're obviously not the most talented band around but they always manage to keep me listening. Gotoh's voice, the catchy melodies, the interaction between the guitar parts, the simple but interesting bass lines, and the sometimes impressive drumming would be my reasons for liking them. I also think that all their singles from Siren and on have been pretty flawless. November needs to get here soon because those song titles sound very cool.

Have you heard the basslines!? They are rarely simple sometimes the bass is more complex than the guitar work. And they do have talent, they just do not always use it to its full potential. Check out their indie work specifically the song "Need Your Love" from the album "I'm Standing Here" that song has some really good guitar work just listen carefully after the solo ends to hear those icredible riffs KEN-CHAN plays.
@t Silent t McLovin is that you!?
