All I'm wondering is what The Bumps are going to sound like. I can't even imagine what they're going to sound like.

It's probably going to sound like noodles with a bit more energy and instrumentation. Maybe some male backing vocals.

I'm half expecting Sawao to ruin this with him just being in the band.
^_^

Yoko being in this is what really saves them. So I'm interested. The name is blatantly unoriginal, too.

Also, if it's a bannable offense to rip on the pillows, then so too, should ripping on noodles and Yoko's weight be a bannable offense. BANHAMMER JOMEI?

Ripping on Sawao, and then raising Yoko up on this pedestal doesn't really make sense to me.

I listen to noodles, I like them, and I think Yoko has a nice voice. But seriously. Did you really think Ivy and Cover Me Shakespeare were all that brilliant?

Jedi, I don't know how many times I need to tell you that spewing bullshit doesn't work on me because I will point out the emptiness of everything you say.

Here you first make a ridiculous claim about Sawao just to stir up anger. Second, you state the obvious. Of course Yoko is fuckwin. Third, you state something completely false. No one has ever been banned for criticizing the pillows. What is against the rules, however, is calling Sawao gay and Yoko fat in threads about their bands. That's just trolling.

Ivy and CMS weren't brilliant, but they were good. Plus, they've delivered little gems to us outside of albums such as Red Bunny and the single version of Splash, which sounds like old noodles awesome. I for one am pumped to hear the bumps.

Rhino, of course it doesn't make sense to you.

Jomei, I'm not trying to stir you up. How about this: I don't hate the pillows. I just hate Sawao.

And yeah, those two albums weren't anything special. However, each one had their good, individual songs.

Any news on when we'll have a listen on the Bumps? PV's? Songs ripped from the radio? EP or album release date(s)?

Hell, I'll say I'm fairly interested in hearing what they'll do... Mainly on a basis that it's Yoko + hopefully some fresh instrumentation/writing.

...Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Noodles, but I really think they've been on a bit of a downer since Junko left. Ivy and Cover Me Shakespeare are enjoyable records, but sort of in a Penalty Life and Good Dreams sort of way. ...Only instead of just being in a lull and reaching out toward a more pop crowd, you're minus a somewhat distinctive lead guitarist who apparently had a decent impact on the songwriting, particularly on the direction your music had been very positively evolving in up to the point where she left the band.

...But I digress. We'll see what they sound like.

that'd be three cyclones in the band if sawao and yoko stick to their main guitars and kentaro uses the one from that great green pv instead of his tele. though it probably wouldn't happen, it seemed kinda funny to me. they could be like "the cyclone club... and drummer".

I know you guys are going to brutally murder me for saying this but I've never thought noodles were that great, so that's not really upping my expectations for this band. I'll give 'em a listen, but I'm not expecting much.

What I want to see is a classic pillows lineup reunion with Kenji, where they play the classics from Pantomime through White Incarnation. 8)

Start with the album Long Long Chain and the mini-album/single Rainbow.

Ueda's overrated. However, I'm all for the lineup of Pantomime -> WI. Although if you think about it, Jun probably can play all of that stuff, if he was able to play Tonight out of the blue when Mare requested it. Surprisingly, the Jun bashing really has dropped down lately.

Tonight's bass is a piece of cake compared to a lot of the pillows' older stuff though. Uh...The Killing Field, Sha-la-la-lla, parts of Swanky Street....

Okay. So the pillows don't really have crazy difficult bass. I'm pretty sure the reason "Jun isn't good enough to play the pillows' older music" is total crap. It's not that difficult, and a decent bassist should be able to learn it with a little practice.

edit: Also, they played Tonight at a previous show in the tour, so it was probably still fresh in everyone's minds. (Jun likely practiced the song before playing it, eh?)
