One Life's chord progression is almost exactly the same as a Beatles chord progression, though I forgot which one. My point is OH GOD CHORD PROGRESSIONS, RIPOFF, OH GOD OH NOES.
I wasn't saying it was plagiarism or anything, the song just reminded me of One Life is all...

I thought the same the same thing when I that song too. When I first hear "Don't Look Back In Anger" I thought Oasis ripped off the pillows until I discovered that their album with that song came out WAY before One Life.

Geez, what's the big deal with people ripping off one another? They're not ripping off, they're inspired.

I understand you mean. I a lot of my songs and chord progression are inspired by the pillows.

Who cares if they're ripping chord progression off of other bands. The pillows are still all-powerful.
I don't like Oasis, though. It is a band of bastards. The Gallagher brothers are constantly at each other. They're all roughly hewn spin-offs of John Lennon.
Not that he's a bad guy. The original John Lennon inhabits lord status.

God guys. The point is that there's pretty much no such thing as "ripping off" a CHORD PROGRESSION. Every chord progression that makes any sense has already been used, probably.

Re: Oasis
Sorry for resurrecting this old post, but I've obtained the new Oasis album. I'm done listening to it, and I've already counted at least 8 direct Beatles references.

Re: Oasis
You mean to say that a band that became famous entirely for the sole reason that they resemble the Beatles would continue that business model?
And John Lennon was not necessarily the best at being a human being...you know, that whole beating women thing is kind of hard to overlook, no matter how you try to look at it.

Dude, everyone's quick to call any band a Beatles rip-off band. People call Of Montreal a Beatles rip-off band because they're "artsy".
As for the second part, well, fucking sign'd.
But any ways. I like Oasis. What's the story? is fucking epic. But then again, I actually remember when their videos were played on MTv, and their music was played on the radio as new music.

Re: Oasis
I agree with you guys. However, this isn't just mimicking Beatle-like actions and sounds. Oasis actually used a few samples from Beatles songs on this album.
Next thing you know, they'll start bundling the album with hand-clipped locks of Paul McCartney's hair. x_x

Re: Oasis
I'm not objectively comparing the Beatles and Oasis. I'm just saying, that's why they are selling records - and it's no accident or coincidence. Oasis has actively pursued that comparison throughout their entire career.

of montreal? They are more like a beach boys rip-off band... if anything. Anyway, they have sucked for as couple albums now.

Re: Oasis
Oasis is okay. But seriously, they'd be a lot cooler if they did something other than ballads for every song.
