the 60s got emulated in the mid to late 90s
Well, there was the Woodstock (98?), but other than that, I don't recall anything really 60's going on.

Wasn't that basically woodstock for numetal bands mostly? Didn't Limp Bizkit perform there?

Yeah, pretty much, but it's still Woodstock, y'know?

Just because it's Woodstock doesn't mean it has anything to do with the 60's tbfh. The original Woodstock was about peace, love, and understanding ;p but the '99 version of Woodstock was filled with hate, violence, and chaos.

alright, i'm just gonna throw this out there...but i think this has turned into possibly the most elitest thread on this forum i've ever read

don't mean to offend anyone, it just comes off that way

but back on topic, yeah, most all new emo sucks the big one. Early emo was pretty good imo before emo hit the mainstream, I highly recommend Indian Summer, especially the track "Angry Son"

Of course this thread seems elitist; however, if you hadn't noticed, on IM, a lot of us get elitist over some of the dumbest things. Anyways, have you seen half of the kids who stick up for their shitty bands and see how elitist THEY get? Here, we're just collectively venting against mainstream puke that's created just to make money.

Which reminds me. Oh God, I went to Target to get shoes today (Very limited selection to choose from when you're size 13/13w, btw.) and as I was walking, I noticed the stupid pictures of dumb model kids and shit and boy did I feel disgusted. They had, like little seven and eight-year-olds with stupid emo-esque kiddie haircuts. Now, of course, it seems kind of hypocritical coming from me since I have long hair and everything, but I don't have long hair because of some stupid shitty trend that's going on... Anyway, it's all just becoming entirely repulsive. /vent/ God, I hate stupid model kids and shit. :dizzy:

Wuts the deal with people gettin all pizzed at newer membs with low post counts? :?

Tho it wuz kidna sills to say Heavy Metal > Emo when there really wasn't any kinda argument goin on inna first place. Imeen, "Heavy Metal rules! WOOP WOOP!", woulda suffixed? no? ^_^

Mah bois in Ahimsa Sunrise are makin a new record in the fall, I knp u said you don't like the hardcore but they have a nice variety of sounds goin on, and IMO it's very good. Yeah, theres some aggressive singing occasionally, but it all floats over a solid song structure. I can't stand when band s make really amature sounding music that just hammers without any kind of ambition or melody. They're spose to be on Fuse TV in July comin up, it sux hard that they got American Idol'd by that scummy Johnny Rotten and Bif Naked, Imeen, who the flip are you? Yeah, I listened to the sampler song of hers that I got in D.C., she didn't seem that interesting to me... >:[ I herd that the whole crowd was there for Ahimsa, I bet those wussies are gonna MTV edit in audience membs to the advancing bands when they didn't have jack shiz! Worse, they might just use the Ahimsa fans and blur out the Ahimsa Sunrise shirts.

Emo music would be fine if the singers didn't sound like whiny little bitches, same with punk rock.... I can't stand the voices at all, seriously, nasally voices are annoying unless you're Sawao or Alx Rose... Also, dressing like a femmy goth is pretty lame as well... whatever, just my opinion.

I'm not a huge fan of heavy metal, but I will admit that the guitarists are f-ing amazing. Like Dragonforce, wow.

Everybody has different opinions about music. If you like emo, heavy metal, alternative, classical, rap or r & b, then it's your choice. jeez, stop freaking out already.
