Continuing ON TOPIC.
Utsuseru, you might also try The Radio Dept., just started listening to them recently, I love it already. Mando Diao is pretty good too, I would start by listening to their first album. And if you like Mando Diao, you should as well enjoy The Strokes.
And if you checked bands I recommended earlier and liked them, you probably like britpop, and so will enjoy Oasis. And especially if you liked The Stone Roses, you should like Kula Shaker.

This is right about where everyone shuts the fuck up about the term "J-Rock." I don't particularly like the terms, but it is really silly to get your panties in a knot over it. Say it if you want, don't say it if you don't want to. End of subject. If you want to have a debate as asinine as this one, make a thread somewhere else.

I'm going to return to the debate over whether or not the language should matter. Technically, when comparing two songs, the language should not be taken into consideration. However, the lyrical content of a song is very important. So it makes perfect sense that a person would like and appreciate music that is in a language that they understand.
A "song" is the marriage of "music" + "literature." Likewise, an instrumental is purely music, and a poem is purely literature. Therefore, when considering a song, both the music and the lyrics should be considered. Of course there are purists who believe "it's all about the music," or that they are "only interested in the lyrics," but these people would just listen to instrumentals or read poetry if that were true.

To me, when I'm listening to a song in a foreign language, I don't care for the lyrics TOO much. I figure that it probably wouldn't make that much sense, nor come off as effective in English, unless the person who was translating was both an English/Japanese, English/Finnish, English/Russian, etc major. Often times it will come off like "HE WANTED GIRL SO BAD HE CRIED" but in the actual language, it has the effect somewhere along "He yearned for love in this out of place world so bad, that when he would begin to think of it, he uncontrollably wept." (I know it's a lame little thing XD but you can see what I mean.)
However, I WILL look at the translation if I really like the song. Sometimes, though, it IS nice to have no clue what they are singing about. If I listen to a song thinking that, it lets me enjoy the actual singing more as just another instrument; although, if I enjoy the song THAT much, then I do end up looking up lyrics.
As for the language they understand part, I could see that. However, there are plenty of people who will listen to Japanese, German, French, etc music without knowing the language. I know I don't really mind the language it's in, personally, although sometimes tone based languages fucking irritate me.. (I'm looking at you, Vietnamese. AT LEAST MANDARIN SOUNDS COOL >=O )

It may be true that I'm really into the Japanese culture; but that doesn't give you the right to criticize one's taste in music. And yes, maybe I do want to live in Japan. MAYBE! I haven't even been over there yet to decide that.
That whole "blow people away with Guitar Wolf" thing is a commercial concept for my radio show. I was trying to go for a laugh. Guess I wasn't funny.
And maybe I do idolize the pop singers over there a bit overwhelmingly; but I ain't as crazy as some of the fans over there. As loony as it sounds, the reason why I enjoy their stuff is because they don't sex it up.
To be honest with you, I prefer British music over anything.

Great music transends language. Why do you think the Beatles were popular in countries where English isn't even spoken?

Start with the album "If You're Feeling Sinister."
I apologize for being a dick, and I'll stop the name calling.. however, were you not calling Nickleback and whatever that other band was shitty? Were you not making fun of Panic At The Disco and calling them whiny? I dislike those bands, as well, but that is criticizing someone's taste in music. Also, you criticized reggaeton.
And maybe I do idolize the pop singers over there a bit overwhelmingly; but I ain't as crazy as some of the fans over there. As loony as it sounds, the reason why I enjoy their stuff is because they don't sex it up.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=dZ1a3Fw6vZE ! HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THIS?! For the most part, it's not even really true about the sexing it up thing. Japanese, or so it seems, prefer their girls to be very young and "cute". There are probably countless men there fapping to delicious loli popstars every hour upon the hour. I just don't understand how you can condemn one pop sound from a certain country, then go ahead and worship the next. Especially, when for the most part, they are identical.
To be honest with you, I prefer British music over anything.
To be honest, I highly doubt this. It seems that all you eat, drink, and sleep is Japanese music.
Great music transends language. Why do you think the Beatles were popular in countries where English isn't even spoken?
Exactly. Although.. have you ever heard Komm Gibt Dir Meine Hand (I think that's its title?), and Sie Liebt Dich? They're two songs that the Beatles redid in German (I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and She Loves You). Sie Liebt Dich is the better of the two imo. SIE LIEBT DICH! JA JA JA! SIE LIEBT DICH! JA JA JA! SIE LIEBT DICH! JA JA JA JAAAA! Speaking of German. Have some German music tbfh: http://youtube.com/watch?v=67OIkoYzH0g Creme De La Creme-Haschisch Kakerlake (at least that's what my MP3 version says >_>; and I trust that more cuz my Austrian friend showed me it.) Ignore the kid in the video, just listen to the song. http://youtube.com/watch?v=siF-kaxWR6E Falco-Der Kommissar. Yes. That's the original (nearly certain it is) version of the song that goes "DON'T TURN AROUND, Oh woah oh! DER KOMMISSAR'S IN TOWN, OH WOAH OH!" http://youtube.com/watch?v=6FXrobgorbs Falco-Junge Römer http://youtube.com/watch?v=_J1YJSP1LX4 Die Toten Hosen-Der Bofrostmann (Can anyone tell me what this sounds A LOT like? XDD. By the way, it has something to do with a frozen dinner salesman.) http://youtube.com/watch?v=gTmLNiEWLtA Die Ärzte-Nein Nein Nein.. I heart me some Die Ärzte. Here's a song that's stuck in my head right now tbfh; it's Finnish, though. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8NMzypKEfYU Ella and Aleksi-Mc Koppakuorianen (Ignore the AMV part. Also, rofl at the fact that they called it Findish.) I just enjoy Leningrad Cowboys because they're fun, haha. Not a very serious band XD. I've talked to the niece of the singer =o although it was online XD so it didn't really count that much.

Well, one must also consider that English is a "universal" language of sorts.
And you must heavily consider that the Beatles are probably the #1 most whored out band in the history of the world.
