several songs of the pillows sound very similar to the strokes.

Take it or leave it=Third Eye
Hard to explain=OVER AMP

those the are 2 that come immediatly to mind, but again theres lots of similarities.

Also, Walking on the spiral is reminiscent of Chicago especially the intro to one of their songs.

Well a lot of people have also noted that Walkin ont he Spiral has the same chord progression as Greenday's Brain Stew. I can see the similarities there, not so sure about Chicago though

brain stew has the same chord progression as a chicago song... "twenty five or six to four" i think is the name of it.

my mom is a big chicago fan -_-

TO FOUR, NOT TO GO

I think, structurally, these two bands are somewhat similar. The main difference is that the pillows don't have that dull, unexcited Strokes sound. The pillows are always full of energy and soul.

Over Amp isn't even a pillows original, if I remember right.

I believe Sawao wrote it, and Mu-Mu or whoever performed it originally for the My Room is Delicious volume 2. That would make it a pillows song.

yeah, I can never remember the exact name of that song, but I remembere listening to an oldies station and freaking balls when I thought the pillows were playing. And yeah, there are going to be a load of similarities between songs, but overall as a band its near impossible to find a specific band.

But isn't that just because, like most japanese bands, the pillows can't stick to a specific demonination of rock? I'm not saying it's bad, but it's also the reason people are constantly bitching about the new stuff and some people only listen to certain albums and whatnot.

That's true. Bands who are typically as dynamic as the pillows generally have a very volatile fanbase. There will always be those who like the new stuff, those who like the old stuff, those who like particular eras or albums, and those who like everything.

Wouldn't it be awesome if he just stopped using that name and switched to "Last Dinosaur Jr." or something?
