:eh: I got Third Eye, Non Fiction, and My Foot together for about $53 at Yesasia. Free Shipping, too. Then again, no poster or calender or whatever, but that wasn't the point for those. They don't take checks anymore, that's why I'm going with CD Japan this time, I'm gonna do an IPMO.
also, if you buy the single from tower, there's a yellow mini-calendar, and a pink one for HMV.

Man, those calenders look awesome, I'm a bit disappointed that I went with cdjapan. Heres hoping some sweet pack-in will come from them to change my mind.

If I don't get stickers or a poster from cdjapan, I'm going to kick myself for not paying the four dollars extra on hmv.

I kind of expected them to cover "Small Town" by John Mellencamp instead. But then again, they already did, and called it "Little Busters."

Four people will get this joke.

HMV is CHEAPER than CDJapan. :?

also, while Sawao's voice is shakier than it used to be, Tsuyogari's vocals were just fine, and you have to take into account the fact that Mr. Children's singer has a higher range than Sawao does, so the song was a bit of a stretch for him.

HMV has better sales than CDJapan, better shipping speed, better price for that speed of shipping, and better prices overall.

TOTALLY.
BOYS BE LOCKSMITH. Really enjoyed the intro. This really clean/clear picking sounded nice, as did Sawao's vocal melody...then the distortion kicked in, turning the awesome factor down...significantly. The chorus was alright, but the main problem I have with this song is that Sawao didn't let it breathe. Fast(er) paced is fine, but it's almost constant singing in a very "flowing" style. The song's over too fast, he should have taken a little break somewhere in there. The musical backing behind Sawao during the pre-chorus and chorus was pretty much just toneless filler with no lead. What's the fun in that? I guess your enjoyment of this song would depend solely on whether you liked Sawao's vocal melody or not. For me, it was too scattered and rushed. Sort of like: "Oh, here's this cool fingerpicking that sounds nice! Let's see if I can write a song with it in...15 minutes."
I don't hate the song, I just think it's pretty weak for a pillows b-side (which are usually just as good as the singles...some years ago, that is) I'll probably enjoy it on sunny days when I'm in a good mood and energetic and need something to play. But yeah. C+ at best.
Not agreeing with you here on several aspects. LISTEN TO THE BASS, HOLY SHIT, JUN'S KICKING ASS ON THIS ONE GUYS. He's got some REALLY nice fills and lines. The drumming is actually really nice as well, at least to my ears. The vocals are really well-done and the lyrics are just great. The flow of the song is fun, but I do agree that the lack of any apparent lead is rather disappointing, but I'd say take another listen paying attention to the interactions between the bass, drums, and vocals.

Also, expanding on my comments about Tsuyogari: the vocals throughout the verses are great, I can't see how you could complain about them at all. The guitar is great, there's a quiet synth or some instrument in the background. There's no "screeching" going on, but THOSE ARE FUCKING HIGH NOTES, OKAY? Of course his voice is going to strain out to reach them. He hit them way the hell better than I could, and better than many singers I've heard. I think that in emotional songs, it's possibly better to let the strain in your voice be heard on those parts.

Is it just me, or is Jun doing better bass on this single than he's done lately, just in general? There's more bass fills and audible bass lines than the last two albums generally had.

As some of my favorite vocalists are Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Brad Delp, Dennis DeYoung, and Rob Halford, along with several other metal vocalists - I can easily say that vocal ability is DEFINITELY not one of the reasons I listen to the pillows, and changes in vocal quality are insignificant, at best. However, Sawao is really good at creating vocal melodies, of which I think these were fairly decent, if not just typical pillows vocal lines.

Edit: Oh, and Morten Fucking Harket!

haha Rob Halford

YOOOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIIIIIIIIIIKE

Boys be locksmith, I'm not crazy about it. Someone said that it sounded like it was off AMAP and I have to disagree. It doesn't sound familiar at all. That said, I can see it growing on me some time in the future.

tsuyogari on the other hand, I liked immediately. I can only imagine this is miles ahead of the original recording, as Mr. Children have only one good thing about them, their name. yeah, this is good.

I like the art.

Mr. Children is a good name!? I remember the first time I heard of him I was like, " :suspicious: Uhh... does he uhm, take... childrens and I dunno, become their... mister? " Seriously, the name Mr. Children just screams out pedo in my mind.

Mr. Children is one of those names, that when you hear it, you begin to slowly shift out of the room without anybody noticing you. Once you leave the room, you promptly run away in fear for your anal cherry's sanctity.

Agreeing with Mare on BBL and Tsuyogari, I like the way he hits those high notes in the chorus, it connects with me. With BBL, it's a fun song that will grow on you. Much like Air Resistor, except I actually like this song having heard it for the first time, whereas Air Resistor seemed completly bland at first. Air Resistor pops in my head every once in a while, and it always makes me feel happy, so I expect the same (or more) of this song.
