I don't think you understand what it means to be a "good" player. Writing some crap song that you like doesn't make them good. Everybody on here is a rock player, and 99/100 guitarists who are really "spirited," meaning play good emotionally connectable things don't play rock. Rock has dumbed down what being an instrumentalist is. And fucking Creed? WHAT THE HELL, MAN?
I think there's a little problem with statistics here.
I'd say 99/100 guitarists play rock. So the percentage of guitarists that would have to be spirited in other forms of music would have to be ridiculously high to match the amount of spirited rock players.
However, since I don't think there's anything about other forms of music that make them inherently more attractive to "spirited" players, then I can reject that whole statement as pretty much bullshit.
Except the last two sentences, of course.

Go right ahead.
you should have locked this when he added Mark Tremonti to that fucklist.

Re: i'm bored: 30 favourite most spirited guitarists
I can pick one most spirited, most talanted, most awesome guitar player ever from that list right away(as in my opinion):
Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan

My point was that rock music doesn't really have "spirit" musically. Rock is just some sound to go behind words. You can argue that I'm wrong all you want, and maybe I am, but I feel that there's no emotion in the "music" part of rock.

less than other genres, yes. none entirely? no.
that's actually a dicussion that jimmy gnecco often has, saying that he wants to be known as a songwriter and vocalist before a rocker.

Well, I think all genres of music are just as "spirited" as the next. The "spirit" is entirely up to the guitarist.
For example, many can argue that much of jazz has no spirit whatsoever, and is merely soulless runs played to eccentric chords resulting in a sound both technical and musical.
Many people can also argue that the blues is among the most spirited forms of music in the modern era.
I happen to disagree with both statements. Music is what you (the artist) make of it.

rock n' roll is an off-shoot of the blues so i dont really consider them 2 different genres all that often... oh yeah and im sorry about putting mark tremonti on there really i just wanted to fill a gap and make an even 30... though he does write some good intros in most creed songs i think i'd replace him with like Randy Rhoads or someone
