The four people who seem to be the most popular nominations have in common the qualities of being generally reasonable, frequently online, caring about the forum, and actually liking the pillows. I think those things, especially the first three, are more important than seniority and postcount.

My record with handling trolls was to ban them and clean up the mess you guys made. And yes, that includes you, clouds.

You overeacted and lost a lot of stuff that a lot of the users found funny. And there hasn't been a post in 3 weeks because of it.

To be fair, the likely cause of the stagnation of DA is the recent obliteration of the boards by spammers who got ahold of admin status.

The users that found that stuff funny were, incidentally, all of the trolls. And there hasn't been a lot of posting because there hasn't been much going on and there is a low member count there. Also, it was less than three weeks by far.

Also, what Jomei said was pretty true. I had to clean up a rather lot of garbage from the buffet there about four times, so if anything I have plenty of experience at cleaning up your guys's mess.

But yeah, adding a new mod would really be a fantastic idea. Terra, we all love her deeply, comes on the forum very infrequently. Joyeuse more so, but still...keeping this forum clean and running well seems to be a bit further down on their priority list. And hey, I mean that's totally fine. People have real-world responsibilities, and I'm not against that at all.

It's just that when spammers, aka. catfish/knifin and sometimes Culen, come along...those accounts need to be nipped in the bud. Take method, for instance. It only takes seeing maybe 5 posts of his to realize "Oh. This guy is a worthless troll." So why did it take so long for him to be banned?

A general rule of thumb, mods: When there's a new user who spams posts and is generally just way off-topic, offensive, and rude...it's 99% of the time going to be a combination of Catfish, Culen, or Knifin. Seriously. It's not necessary to wait a week, let their worthless posts inundate the form, and [i]then[/i] ban them. But that's not a count against [i]you[/i], it's just a sign that we need more mods that can be here to police the forum much more frequently.

That's why this place needs a new mod. Whether it be me, Mare, Jomei, Thinline, or someone else...I'm damn sure the response time to trolls would be much faster. And really, that's the only major thing harming the forum right now.

So yeah, your call.

edit: I just thought..it's sort of like having a bunch of people discuss something in a big meeting room. Everything's going fine, until a rabid monkey breaks through a window and starts harrassing everybody and pooping on the tables. We look to where the security guards are supposed to be standing, but there's only a sign that says: "Will be back in ___ days" So we just have to wait. And wait. All the while the monkey flings poo, and basically makes the meeting room terrible for any newcomers who might want to join.

I'm partial to believing Mare on this one. It seems you have an unreasonable tolerance of trolling, clouds.

You say no to Thinline because he doesn't like you (pretty much for good reason, you are rather rude here). I don't know why you would say no to GoldenRhino.

Clouds is too much a part of the buffet to be a mod here. :/ And sclone isn't on frequently enough. Thrice is almost NEVER on here.

Jomei would be a great mod. GR would as well. Hell, making both of them mods wouldn't be a bad idea.
