Post Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
I'm watching the ceremony right now. I can't believe that Percy Sledge and Buddy Guy are being forced to share the stage with U2. I don't even think I can watch this shit. I really don't even like Buddy Guy, but U2 isn't even in the same league. What a joke. Sledge and Guy are musicians who produced earnest, and expressive music, which actually possessed a soul and character. U2 is a band of white Irish geeks who produce album after album of vacant, pretentious, cookie cutter, radio-rock. How does any U2 album even compare to ?Warm and Tender?? It doesn?t. Neil Young is presenting now. What an old dithering hippie. I?m waiting for Bo Diddley to come on. For some reason I thought he was dead. It seems vaguely insulting to have Justin Timberlake, a white guy whose built his career on ripping off black soul and R&B, open a ceremony honoring mainly black artist, among whom are the O?jays. I?d be like having led Zeppelin introduce Sonny Boy Williamson II. I bet Led Zeppelin is in the hall of fame, and Sonny Boy Williamson isn?t. Crock of shit. Sonny and Muddy should have taken them for every penny. Chrissie Hynde barely seems lucid.

In Conclusion

^ boo that man, booooooooooo!

They've been dipping for the past decade. The thing is, now that we're entering the 80's void they'll either have to look towards the hip-hop/rap influences(Grand Master Flash was nominated this year, Run DMC are strong contenders), or dig deeper into the past for an "over-looked" artist ('cause they sure as well won't inflate the Hall with MTV influenced artists. Or is it?)

Which is good-if only they would site Neu!, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, T-Rex, etc, but no. It seems they'll just pick an "significant" American pop artist from the 60's-70's at random, yatta yatta yatta.

That said, I'd like to see if Sonic Youth makes any waves this year. I have a strange/strong feeling for RHCP too, but I'm not sure if they reached the 25 year mark. They could be the youngest to be ever inducted.

is that me saying T-Rex?

Anyone, U2 is ok, but not rock N roll hall of fame worthy. They kind of randomly come back with an album every now and then. But i mean, they should really stop already.

No. I was quoting bleuster. T-rex was a glam-rock/proto-punk band of the 60's and 70's.

yes. They had a simple, accesible sound even when that style was out of vogue in the U.S. If you like MC5, The Stooges, The New York Dolls, ect then you would like them. They're like them but Brittish and with a slightly more layered sound.

I've been waiting a long time for Alice Cooper to be inducted. If it wasn't for him; 3/4 of many metal bands wouldn't exist.

10 years until the Pillows can be nominated; and I believe that they will be the first Japanese act to be in there.

Yeah, the Pillows will never "make it" in the hall becuase their sound is too original.

What? The Pillows are a great band, but they are not very original at all. I mean, they have their own distinct sound, but they are no Bo Diddley.

Agreed. As good as the pillows are, they did not change music like Hubert Sumlin, or Little Walter did. I love the pillows, but I would not say they belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That place should be reserved for people made important contributions to the style. Plus the pillows' style is so far from traditional rock and roll that it would be an innapropriate addition to the hall of fame.

People I would like to see inducted are: Magic Sam, The Sonics.
