Oh damn, on Shin Megami Tensei, I fuckt up. I'm totally doing the neutral path, and I'm at the last dungeon
(I played this like, a year ago and I stopped at the last dungeon. I'm also at the last dungeon in FFV and I haven't beaten it. Hmmm... I was also at the last dungeon of FFVI when I stopped playing [I emu'ed it and beat that shit tho' regardless.] Last dungeons aren't so good for me.)
Anyway, I'm at the last dungeon, and I went down to kill all the gaians first. I met Louis Cypher, and he talks to me about Beelzebub, so I killed the Asura Lord, but then I went to kill Seraph Gabriel and stuff. I fuckt up, because the game won't let me go meet the Law Hero, and if I go to Beelzebub, he just joins me. Luckily, I saved stated in a different slot just in case such a thing might happen. But I'm level... 83 now, and I was like level 76 before I save stated in another slot. It's a bitch, because I won't have some level 81 Kishin on my team, so I'm unmotivated to play again. (If I get to level 88, I can get Shiva, w00t.)
/bonus points to anyone who understood that.
I couldn't figure out how FFVIII worked, so I stopped playing it.
Don't get me wrong, I don't play these games for the gameplay - I play them for the storyline. But if I can't figure out how it works, it just becomes frustrating. Such RPG's shouldn't entail significant hours spent on learning it.
And I would certainly add FFX to the good Final Fantasy series list.
It seemed pretty simple to me. The hardest part about it was the card game. That thing confused me so much.
Ugh...

The card game was great... As long as you keep the tough rules off. Sure, you want to play with "Plus" and "Same" and such, because it's cool to add layers and fun to think of more ways to win, but I've deduced with 100% of my brain that in matches where you can't see what cards your opponent has, it always knows what cards you have chosen and chooses cards that are mind-blowingly unbeatable against whatever five cards you have chosen, Plus/Same combo-ing you into oblivion. It cheats hardcore with that rule. I don't know exactly what the rule is called for when you can't see an opponents cards, but do what you can to abolish it from the region. Random sucks balls too.
That said, I've never beaten FFVIII. I get the Ragnarok ship and just quit, this is like the 3rd or 4th time now. My most recent attempt, I fought for days to get the Alexander card from the space station director, with unfortunately difficult rules. I finally got it, but I was so tired of the game I just quit again after I landed the Ragnarok. I want to finish it, but it only takes one day of sheer disgust to make me stop completely. Hopefully I'll pop it back in sometime and finish.
I love the story, the locations are amazing, the characters are great, but the gameplay IS SO SLOW AND BORING. Even watching Squall trotting towards enemies feels longer than it should. It would have made a spectacular play, drama, or movie, but as a game, it's just...too...damn...slow...paced. It is also overly complicated. I was so angry when, on my first run through the game when it was new, I realized that the reason I wasn't finding the items I needed to upgrade my weapons was because I missed drawing Siren at the beginning of the game. How dare them to make such a key device miss-able because you're just starting and you aren't completely understanding/comfortable with a new combat device. (drawing stocks from enemies.)
Fantastic atmosphere, frustrating pace. I'd love the game if I didn't hate playing it.

wow, i stayed up all night long earning emblems in SA2.
soul-crushing really is the only way to describe it.
blowing 30 continues on one of the space levels... :-/
The space one with Eggman...the only way I could actually get an A rank was by collecting all the rings. Points just wasn't working. No matter how many I got, it was always a B.
Heh, I pretty much used up a summer vacation getting all those emblems. Or a lot of it.
You got all the emblems??? You're fricken insane. I've always wanted to see 3d Green Hill Zone but getting 180 emblems is too damn hard.

And I had a partner, did it along with my brother, so I didn't actually have to get all of them myself. I am insane, though.
help me kozumou, SA2 has me pulling out my hair.
Haha, I'd try if I could, but it's been a few years. I really don't think I'd do any better than you.
