I just called the crocodile cafe (to ask if minors can be accompanied) and they said...

"You have to be 21 and over, there is no way to get around it, that is the law."

and they said that I probably won't be able to hear anything from outside.

Anyone know what time the Pillows are playing at Pianos, NYC? I think the schedule says 10:45, but I'm not terribly sure.

I'll also be going to the Knitting Factory. I'm going to try to get an autograph on my Please Mr. Lostman CD. If they play any of their old stuff I would just cry (out of happiness). Although I'd still go to see them even if they we're only playing "Super Trampoline School Kid" for an hour.

Well, I WANT to go to the Acen thing, but I heard you have to buy a badge to get into the concert. That's... lame. I don't even know how much these badge things cost. I do know they get you around the whole convention, so they have to be pretty expensive, right? I want to see the Pillows, not walk around with some over weight, middle aged, balding, Cheetoe eating, soda guzzling, bath boycotting, men to buy pocky and say konnichi wa at every chance I get because that's all the Japanese I know...and I want to be Japanese. No! I'm a real Pillows fan. I know more than Ride on Shooting Star. -_- For god sakes.....

And the tour spots so far are only on the coasts. Are they afraid of taking more than 50 steps into the country or are they going to play on the shores?

Dose anyone find this really really depressing?!

I mean, the Pillows, I love them, they should set up another tour date in Chicago. I'll be there at least.

(But enough of my angry ranting... there's almost no hope for the midwestern pillows fan. And there aren't not even any mountains around here I can jump off of if I can't go to the pillows' concert. this angers me.)

EDIT: NO! You know what? I just found out the price for a convention badge. $45. 45!!!! I don't have that much money. boo, acen. you suck. Sell separate tickets to the pillows concert or I will destroy you. No wait, I'll pay the $45 so I can mosh the ignorant otaku...who am I kidding? I only have about $28. And that doesn't count 4 hours worth of gas and parking and the mental suffering. I'm very upset. *runs with scissors*)

in my history class, we discussed the differences between the coasts and the midwest. the coasts seem (or are) more open-minded in terms of the world (an example might be like embracing other cultures. but don't quote me on that). the midwest on the other hand, i wouldn't say they are closed-minded, but rather narrow-minded. as such, it is my estimation that reason for the pillows playing on the coasts (SXSW and ACEN are completely different) is that they figured, being that they are more open-minded, that the majority of the US fan base would be located here.

another reason might be that they wanted to play the better known major cities in the US. those happen to be LA, NY, SF and Seattle. further more, it might have been due to money.

Jedi for the most part that's true but it totally depends on what city you are in. Minneapolis (yes I am plugging my city) is known as the third coast because of all the great bands and the music industry we have going here.

Happi Bunnie, if the pillows do play another show in Chicago, chances are it would be 21+ anyway. Also, 45 bucks in my opinion is well worth the price. I've been to concerts that were a heck of a lot more expensive than that. The average price for a concert ticket now days is about 65 dollars if it's at an arena and that price is usually just for the cheap seats.

$45 is decent. Bigger acts have preformed for less, but Rosemont is a relatively large venue. When I was there it looked like it was seating at least 3000 (with empty seats). Even though this means they will probably do a pretty long set, I would still rather see them at a club or small venue.

And what?s with the anti-mid-west sentiment of this thread?

Minneapolis has more theaters than any other city in the country (adjusted for either population or Land area, i can't remember).

Chicago's a pretty big city for music as well, from what I understand. I mostly object to the price because of what all the OTHER Pillows shows are costing.

But, meh.

And to add, I've been looking forward to it since I heard rumors about their coming....and to find out $45....for me that's just too much. I'm just a kid, so I don't come across money easily... and parents are a huge road block. They won't let my sis and I drive up there alone. Before my mom knew the price, she said maybe. I told her $45 and she said "too bad" :( Anyway.... I'm just complaining!

I hate the midwest. I want to go back to the east. >:(

Pianos is in a really weird location, it was tricky to find. I guess it actually used to be a piano store. It opens at 5, and the show is at 8:30, so hopefully the pillows show up early. There is a guitar shop just down the street with a bunch of cool used instruments and old amps. I bought a big muff for about 70 bucks. Hopefully the pillows decide to check this place out while they are down there, it's a couple blocks away. If they do I'm going to ask to jam with them.

the pillows has sure come a long way... never thought i'd live to see this day. I think I'll stay up to watch the sunrise

Anyway, people, please bring pics from the seattle show, if anyone's going. And buy a bunch of t-shirts so you can sell them online. If you get them signed I'll pay more

As far as I know, they completely sold out of all the Pillows shirts already. At Pianos they had sold out of the med size Cat Skull shirt that I really wanted, but thought "oh, I guess they only brought a few of them tonight... I'll get another one tomorrow night". But when I tried to get it again at the Knitting Factory, they had sold out of every shirt and only had the keychains and cds left. Maybe they sold out of the small amount they brought for that show too, but I have the sneaking suspicion that when they were planning for the whole America trip that they only made a small run of shirts assuming that no one was gonna buy them anyway. Hopefully not though, I need the Cat Skull shirt.... cries.
