The site is acting goofy. At least that's why I posted twice earlier, and then accidentally made a thread disappear when I tried to delete my post.

No.
Don't spend more on a MIM than a MIJ. Ebay it.

usually the japanese mustangs that i find in ebay, they have dings and other things. that is something that i don't like. while i do agree about buying the japan made one, i don't have a credit card yet. even if i did, my credit limit would be below $500. unless, however, i take a trip to japan...

A few dings for a step up in quality and a step down in price is quite a good deal. My MIJ Mustang was (still is) in perfect condition when I bought it for $560.
You should never, ever put appearance of a guitar in front of quality. Besides, dinged up fenders look badass.
EDIT: Borrow a credit card from your parents or something.

i'll seriously consider this once i have the money for it. i really would love a MIJ mustang. but if funds don't allow it, i'll have no choice but to purchase the MIM.

Did you read what I just said? There are perfect condition MIJ's on Ebay for at least a hundred bucks less. You just have to be patient.

Yeah. The only ding on my MIJ is one I put there by being a dumbass. I got it for like $300 on ebay. Only thing is, it's the red with a stripe color.

Dings and scratches are inevitable. If you bought a new guitar to play, hoping to keep it clean your entire life, you're living in a fantasy world. Search eBay for a MIJ guitar and snatch up the cheapest one you can find. I got an incredible well built and sounding Precision Bass for 125 and love it to death even though it's a fucking wreck. It still plays and since having acquired it, I've begun to appreciate the dings I get on my other guitars.

The guy who owns your music store is a dumbass, as I suspected before.

I'll take somebody's word who's been in the business for 10 years over yours.
EDIT: And he's been a Licensed Fender dealer for just as long.
