Is it yarusenaki kono beat? "this beat is without cheer" or "this dreary beat."
It's "Yaruse Nakio no Beat"

Mukai, Yoshikane, and Hinata practicing their shooting skills. They plan to storm the concert during the encore (when, of course, Inazawa, Tabuchi, and Nakao play something together), and pump them full of lead. Matsushita's the human shield, in case the fuzz are present.

Man, I've told too many Atsushita jokes in my day.
I don't particularly hate the guy, but if he falls off of his drum stool one more time...

I don't mind him, to be honest. He can play just fine, and given the demands of being in a prog/experimental/math rock/whatever band like Zazen Boys, he's doing alright. I do, however, think his drum kit sounds like crap compared to Inazawa's.

The "steely beat" of his drums is what made up Zazen Boys III. He can keep a consistent beat also. Play DON'T BEAT with a metronome at 120 beats per minute (I believe so, I might have calcuated it incorrectly).

It took longer than any other Number Girl or Zazen Boys to grow on me, but I'm finally appreciating the awesomeness that is School Girl Distortional Addict. Nichijou ni Ikiru Shoujo is definitely my favorite from that album. The last minute or so is absolutely amazing.
Interesting trivia: Eight Beater is apparently the first time Mukai says "Kurikaesaseru Shogyoumujo... etc." on recording. Unless, that is, Tokyo Freeze was recorded first, but I highly doubt that.

Ugh. The translation has been discussed VERY MUCHLY in the Zazen Boys topic.
But let's do this again.
Kuri Kaesareru Shogyou Mujou is a Buddhist-like mantra which essentially means this: Everything that goes on in the world is essentially pointless and insignificant because we will all be gone/dead eventually. Saddam Hussein's death, the PS3's sales, shitty Panic! At the Disco CDs, wars, political proceedings, anything. In the end, it was all insignificant, because we're mortal and will eventually die.
Yomigaeru Seiteki Shoudo means "Rejuvenated/Revived Sex Drive."

Buddhist rock?
On a somewhat related note, why aren't there more Number Girl songs like Num Ami Dabutz? The PV color scheme also wins.

Some interesting stuff I found from garbled translations of Japanese Wikipedia articles:
- Inazawa has a dog, a Shih Tzu named Cook. Inazwa's hobbies include soccer, fishing, and he has an international driver's license. I wonder if he drove the band around when they were in America?
- He apparently is well-known for performing while drunk. At Countdown 2005, some drunken event involving either Inazawa or Vola bandmate Nakahata occured, resulting in one of them being kicked out or something.
- Mukai got drunk the first time Number Girl played at Rising Sun Rock Festival, and freaked out a member of Supercar who was on the same bus leaving after the concert.
- Mukai first started playing guitar in middle school, where he tried unsuccessfully to play Achilles' Last Stand by Led Zeppelin.
- Mukai failed an exam at, or to get into, Japan University; his parents wanted him to join the Japanese Military (!) after this, but he stuck with music instead.
- Mukai's lyrics incorporate heavy elements of word play and literary themes; apparently, the frequent mention of cats in his songs is derived from one author's works.
- Tabuchi attend a private vocational high school for girls in Fukuoka. She studied clothing design at the school, and worked at a clothing factory before joining Number Girl. According to her Wikipedia article, she actually knit the design for the I Dedicate D Chord album cover.
- She knew Shiina Ringo from Fukuoka before Number Girl; it's unclear, but it sounds like Tabuchi was inspired by Shiina to start playing guitar. Tabuchi was in a band with her when they were in middle school, perhaps Cosmic Cherry. They also played together in Hatsuiku Status (or whatever Shiina's side-band was called.)
- Nakao was inspired to begin playing music when he heard Nirvana; Nakao left school and, from what I can tell, had a job operating the lighting for a music venue, where he first encountered Tabuchi.
