Simply awesome.

I am really liking what I have heard so far.

I noticed something very, VERY cool about their 3'rd album

' Walking cloud and deep red sky, Flag fluttered and the sun shined'

Recorded and Mixed by Steve Albini

EDIT: Wow, it also seems Albini has toured with them...

[i]What was it like recording your new album with Steve Albini, with whom you've
also
toured?

>We didn't have any problems and we never got frustrated, which usually happens in
any recording session. I feel Steve Albini's sound is full of characters, very human.
He understood our music and I believe he enjoyed working with us. As a result, we
could capture our band7s sound in the studio as close as live.

Being an all Instrumental band, they mix alot of styles together, Rock classical and some stuff I can't even categorize. MONO often evokes feelings of great saddness and despair. However, they manage to create these pieces without falling into a sappy or overly depressing sound. In a certain piece, a gentle melody rises and falls underneath a cascading string section, untill finally erupting into an anthematic blur of screaming guitars and crashing drums. Of course, it's not all pretty little melodies and warm feelings. MONO also ventures into darker territory with some odd progressions and even weirder guitar tones. And while some of the tracks are harsh and strange, they don't sound excessively experimental.

I love it.

OH! Did I mention their most recent album was recorded and mixed by the

one and only Steve Albini?

The closest they get to me is Texas or Colorado. I'm in SF.

Never heard of 'em. By instrumental do you mean songs without words, or is it a different type of instrumental?
