Guns 'n' Roses? :?

Listening to AWPs hardCORE ZOMG BIG list o' music (now with links). The ones I like the most (from just the given songs) are Voxtrot, The Microphones, The Little Ones, Islands, and The Shaky Hands. Laura Gibson sounds to me like Joni Mitchell, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not sure I need to listen to her again.

That man's missing a letter. Must've had a vowel movement.

The weather here's been crazy lately. First it snows, then it rains, now today it was sunrays out the buffalo. With the smilin' sun out in full volume, I had to listen to folk rock band Runrig's album Amazing Things. These events actually didn't really have any specific correlation, but they almost felt like they did.

eagles of death metal are OK. they opened for the strokes @ the Hammerstein like in march i think. The lead singer was so cheezy though. he kept saying "this song is for all the foxy ladies in the crowd" and no foxy ladies replied. :?

Everything by DRUM:KAN. One of the things I love about ze intrawebs is just downloading random music, because I never know what I'm going to find. A lot of the time I discover Japanese musicians I like this way, not knowing anything at all about them beforehand.

That's how I found DRUM:KAN, who, by their own admittance, are pretty damn emo. To be honest, they're really not even very unique, but maybe I like them because Satoshi Tsugahara has such a deep, ripping voice (far removed from the high-pitched whine of your average emoist, even if I can barely understand him when he sings in English), because their guitars are usually tinged with the grunge distortion of the early emo scene rather than those cute padded blumps of today's mainstream bands, and perhaps most importantly because the songs they play feel like they'd rock arenas more than melodramatic teenagers.

Combine this with nary a trace of unnecessary cynicism, and you've got one of my favorite bands I've picked up this year. I think their newest album is actually a little "meh," but I'm quick to forgive, so as long as they come up with something better next time, I'll be happy.
