FRIDAY NIGHT IS A DISGUSTINGLY SHITTY SONG/PV
I can't say I completely hate the song (I like the bass / guitar) , but it's certainly their most boring PV, and it has Atsushita blankly staring into space while playing a monotonous beat.
lol Mukai looks like King Jong Il in the video
You're fucking crazy and immature to criticize the band so openly because of a single performance. ZAZEN BOYS III is good. Writing it off because it's different from the other albums is pretty narrow minded of you. That's right, I fucking said it.
DO SOMETHING.
k. Firstly I was basing my opinion off an EP, an album, and two live performances. ( I guess I didn't say anything about the live performance i saw on youtube sometime in 2005. It sucked garbage to. And it's not because it's different that I don't like it. It's beacuse putting up a bunch of shitty noises and calling it music isn't talent.

That's a BAD thing?

Oh my god I couldn't disagree more with you. I could care less about the PV, but that song KICKS.

Fag. Can't say anything about the PV though since I haven't seen it.
Zazen Boys III is good, but they really falter from their changed style that was in Himitsu Girl's Top Secret which was a promising new and great sound. Some major lows on III is PINK HEART, METAL FICTION, Don't Beat, and possibly Good Taste.

Gotta disagree, especially with the idea that Himitsu was promising a new and great sound when it was really a bunch of rewrites of Anminbou.

Alright Adam and I had this discussion. Zazen Boys III is so much better than Himitsu Girls Top Secret. That had no good songs on it where III almost has 3.

It seems like you aren't familiar with enough stuff in the same vein. Zazen Boys isn't even that far out there when compared to most math rock, experimental rock, etc. Seriously, Trout Mask Replica makes III's strangest moments look positively senile. Sure III is chaotic, but the technicality and artisiness makes up for it- for me.

Ok, I will agree with Tatsu on one thing; most Zazen Boys songs are unenjoyable to me. They do sound like random, jumbled noises. They can be repetative and annoying. However, their good songs are fucking great.

Cause Everything else is fucking amazing.
And my final word on this matter is comparison. Watch anything ZBIII era(Especially RIJ2005). Then watch the September 22 2003 performance at Osaka Big Cat and tell me which one you'd rather have gone to.

Am I on the right track with Hantoumei Shoujo Kankei? I think these are the first three chords Mukai plays in the intro.
e--7--10--12----- B--7--10--12----- G--7--10--9------ D--5--8---9------ A---------------- E----------------
Oh, and I just can't seem to find that Osaka Big Cat video.

It seems more simple and sharp, than...well, chords.

Totally. It is chords though. I have a really clear video of the song at the big "Countdown Japan" event on New Years Eve. That little Mukai dude has some series tricks up his sleeve. Still don't know how he gets that sharp "metallic" tone. I would guess his tone is set all the way to high, but other than that I have no idea.
