Rush (The band, not the pillows song)
Am I really the only one here who digs them? They're all amazing. Geddy Lee's vocals take some time to grow on you, but his fantastic bass playing doesn't. Alex Lifeson is really underrated guitarist. And Neil Peart is probably the greatest drummer of all time; only Mike Portnoy is in the same league. This band is amazing, let's talk about it.

HELL YES. i love rush. i need to get more of their stuff, i've been a fan for about eight years since i first heard them courtesy of my ex-stepdad. they have a great sound, very good guitar, bass, drums, lyrics, singing. i love especially "limelight," "closer to the heart," "xanadu," and that one about the car in the future when it's illegal, i can't remember the title. and the whole album "a farewell to kings."

Rush is great, but there are plenty of drummers in the same league as Peart, many who are or were much better than the two aforementioned drummers.

There are a few death metal guys who show similar technical skill, but they're considerably less versatile than Peart or Portnoy. Who exactly are you talking about?

Ah, I don't know much about Jazz drummers, so I'll concede this one. I know Buddy Rich is considered one of the best
Ah, I don't know much about Jazz drummers, so I'll concede this one. I know Buddy Rich is considered one of the best
Buddy Rich is my personal favorite drummer of all time. Not only was he incredibly technically proficient, but he was also very entertaining, humorous, and fun to watch. Take it from me, a guy who is often bored to death (and I'm not part of a minority, here) by long, overly technical, repetitive, or just plain boring drum solos...I could watch Buddy Rich for hours. If you want to watch some videos, go here: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Buddy_Rich.htmlAn example of his genius from that site: http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/budd ... trick.html
"]...and Shinichiro Sato.
Word. I could also watch Shin for hours...mostly because of his motley assortment of goofy facial expressions.

RED alert...awesome song....and then the lyrics for another song, "save my mother" yes...just wicked...i really liked their 5 first albums, then just became to pop in my opinion, but one of later songs i really liked was Ghost Rider, just because of the vocals...

Almost year-old thread bump alert!!
I got Moving Pictures a few days ago and I'm absolutely hooked on this band. Limelight might be one of my new favorite songs ever.

Man, this is pre-Kyle-The-Japanese-Indie-Rock-Geek. What was I thinking!? No mention of Inazawa!
For the record I think Buddy Rich is awesome. And I haven't listened to Rush lately. I should do that.
