I guess I'm one of the only ones who really does not see the appeal of this franchise. The first one was a sorta decent diversion, but not memorable at all. Oh, and pirates don't wear eyeliner, Mr. Depp. I don't plan on seeing this, but I guess it depends what else is showing at our shitty theater next time I go.
johnny depp is the appeal. he's hilarious. the first movie probably would have been just another big disneyfied pirate movie without him. so if you don't like johnny depp, then it stands to reason you won't like these movies that much.

Just today I saw it with a bunch of kids my mom forces me to hang out with. I brought my Walkman, just in case I couldn't bare the movie, but I ended up really enjoying it.

Well, I'm going to see it tomorrow night. My girlfriend wants to see it, and she's been out of town for a week, so I'm going. I'm expecting about a 2-3 star flick, but I'll try to keep an open mind going in.

heh...i stay after in movies all the time, even when i'm really pissed at them...as was the case in x3...but that one actually had something to do with setting up the story. Pirates' dog after the credits was just something a little amusing.

It was about what I expected. Mildly amusing at points, way too long, and an unfocused plot. Two and a half stars. My girlfriend was really looking forward to it, but she fell asleep toward the end.

I haven't even seen the first one yet. I was going to watch it on TV last night, but missed it.

Did anyone else get pissed at the establishing shots about halfway through and on? You know the ones, the ones where they show the ship / city in a slightly rotating view so you know where the scene is taking place. They started making them reeeeally long and annoying about halfway through.
