Just throwing this out there, but has anyone considered making a zazen boys english fansite, or even just a forum. I'd be willing to work with a few people to make it happen.

Thanks! Much better.
This set is really good. Zazen Boys III songs are incredible live. Water Front ftw. And best live version of Kaisen Zenya I've heard.

I really didn't like Zazen Boys III that much. In far too many of the songs there was basically no structure at all. Just a bit too..."out there" fore me.
However, Friday Night is one of my favorite Zazen Boys tracks...right along side with 6pon no Kurutta Hagane no Shindou, and Jimonjidou.
For me, if the song has a consistant beat, that's a plus. It's still a plus if its as random as Cold Beat - Mukai can pull it off well.
But when it gets into the meandering, slow (but sometimes jumpy) instrumental noodling...eh. I'm not into that.
I admire Mukai's unique musical style a lot - I just wish there were a LITTLE more conventional elements in it.

I really liked "Water Front" and "Sugar Man" the first time I heard it. Though it is somewhat like GoldenRhino said. Give me some time I just heard this band.

I don't really think there are that many songs like that on Zazen Boys III. Sugar Man (but it had structured parts, too), Pink Heart, and Lemon Heart are the only ones I can think of.. But, I guess generally speaking, as an album it's a lot looser feeling.

the basic concensus has been that III isn't that great, but I haven't heard it.

III was definitely a big change of pace, but I'm liking it the more I listen. Initially I was disappointed, mostly because the Himitsu Girl's Top Secret EP gave me such high expectations. I have to say that the whole free-form atonal rock-jazz thing that they were trying to pull off on the album sounds much better live.

Am I the only person who prefers Zazen Boys III to Himitsu Girl's Top Secret?

nah, although it's my least favorite, i'd have to go with Zazen Boys III. it's a pretty okay listen throughout.

Anyone have any tabs? Kimochi or Jimon Jitou would be much appreciated.

Some Zazen Boys tabs would be amazingly cool. The only thing I've figured out so far is...well, the riff for Cold Beat and a few of the bits for Himitsu Girl's Top Secret. Four notes that span the entire song. Pretty cool.
I definitely prefer Himitsu Girl's Top Secret over Zazen Boys III.
Himitsu Girl's Top Secret: Pretty good, not my favorite though...3.5/5
BRAIN CONSTRUCTION: Probably my favorite here. How can you resist mouthing along with Mukai when he just rips it? JUst a damn awesome song. 4.5/5
Hentai Terminated: Eh...not so hot on this...2.5/5
Hard Liquor: Fast and agressive. I love it when they change the beat on the riff. 4/5
Usodarake Take 2: Decent, though I much prefer the first for some reason...3.5/5

I haven't had the time to listen to Zazen II completely, but Zazen Boys I is really great. Crazy Days Crazy Feeling is hot though.
