 why is the pillows compared to weezer?
I've always wondered why the pillows was compared to Weezer. Is it because of their music resemblance or their lyircs (I don't understand japanese)? I'm a big Weezer fan and heard all of their records and I really can't compare the the two except for the fact that they are both alternative bands. Could someone give me a reasonable explanation as to why they're compared to one another?

both were at one time full of variety and goodness. both lost original bassists. both began to suck.

when did both bands start to "suck" and you didn't even give a reason as to why they are compared to each other?

I've always thought they were compared to Weezer because they both aren't afraid of using Major-sounding, melodies paticulary in the Chorus of their songs and they both use generally simple chord progressions...course, I don't know much about music theory, so if anyone could elaborate on this (Steven) please do.

Hey, man, Green Album and Maladroit were good.. well Maladroit had decent songs. Burnt Jamb was exceptional. It's just that new one.. Make Believe, that was meh.. I do like Perfect Situation though, but I've only heard the three singles from it.
I don't know, I always sorta thought of the pillows as a Japanese Weezer for some reason >_>;

i've always kind of comapred the pillows to weezer. reason being because they are the closest american band i can think of that sounds at all like the pillows. the song that resembles weezer the most, at least IMO, would be TYMT the song. it just has that kind of weezer feel to it.

AS far as I remember, it's got nothing to do with their sounds, but popularity.
Back in the Planet Pillows days, someone wanted to know how popular the pillows were in Japan. Pretty much everyone settled on Weezer as a fair analogous American example. Namely, that people know about them, but they're not superstars.
