These Pixar 3-D animation movies just don't do it for me (except for Toy Story).

The reactions are almost always: "Oh, it was so cute! Yeah, I had a good nice time. It was kinda funny. Good animation! I loved Owen Wilson/xxxxxx star doing the voices."

Well yeah, I know it's supposed to be family fair. But really, why can't these things have any depth?

Look at Cars, Monsters Inc, Pocahontas, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and....say....Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Voices of a Distant Star, The End of Evangelion, Grave of the Fireflies, Castle In the Sky, and Nausicaa.

I'm not saying that the whole purpose of Japanese animation is to be compared to mainstream American fare, but...I can't honestly think of an American animated film that I've wanted to reflect upon for more than 10 seconds.

It's unfortunate that in America, animation isn't fully realized as a medium completely comparable to film.
well this is japanese anime your talking about anyway. its aimed more at an audience who can actually understand any depth it has. all the pixar movies were really aimed at child audiences and you really cant compare that since they're in a whole different leauge. But if you looked hard enought there are alot of adult related innuendos all over pixar movies. its fun trying to point out stuff adults would understand while thinking like a kid.

OK, this is coming from somebody whom totally understands most Japanese anime (except FLCL of course). I thought Cars was a totally awesome movie. I took my 4 year old brother to see it, and he was, for the first time, delighted by a movie. It had awesome animation, and I've always had a thing for cars... Sure, it doesn't have much depth, but it's a KIDS film, not something like Lain. But, I muchly enjoyed it...

Anime's depth is the same thing over and over, though, usually. It's like watching the same characters in a different situation in most animes. Sure it's a good character, but you've seen this guy before.

I know what you mean... But FullMetal Alchemist had very good characters in my opinion, but that's besides the point.

I liked the oldschool animation, not computer animation. All computer animation looks the same to me. But Pixar makes cleaner looking computer graphics than the other companies. My parents think I'm good at making animations and want me to go to school for computer animation but I kinda don't like 3D stuff...

If this isn't the case with most well-done anime series.

honestly i dont really know how i would feel if they refined the graphics for toy story 3. if they did, it would kinda lose its toy story feel since it started out kinda, you know, older than the new ones. haha. i dont know how ot say it without seeming messed up...

Yeah, ever since Disney went 3D they started sucking. What with Chicken Little, and that one new one that's a rip off of Madagascar... But Pixar... You can understand, because thye've been doing it ever since the beginning....

Disney should stick with 2D they dont need to get all 3D like you know. Oh and i think that movie you meant was called The Wild.
