Post Husking Bee
I searched and didn't see a thread on this band. So I thought I'd bring it up, because, if the pillows weren't my favorite band, HUSKING BEE would be. It's such a shame that they disbanded last year. I have all their albums except for Put on Fresh Paint, and I also have their last DVD 050306.

So anybody else like them?

terra really likes them. She sent me a bunch of their songs, and some are pretty cool.

They're mediocre.

i only own the steady state theory and anthology 1994-2004. i got anthology to get an idea of what their older songs were like to see which albums i'd most likely want to buy... but it'd help to hear your suggestions, shenlong.

two of my favorite songs are cosmic rays, and the steady state theory.

I didn't realize they were so old. I hav eonly heard four color problem and the sun and the moon.

four color problem didn't impress me at all. sun and the moon was better.

the steady state theory is worth checking out. and there's songs on the anthology that weren't so hot- there's an improvement over time i think.

I suggest picking up Variandante. All of the tracks on that album are pretty solid in my eyes. And some of the tracks on that are just great. Like Makufushigi, Shinkyuu, So Tragicomical, and Naraba Koko Ni.

Shenlong sent me some songs and told me the ones he liked (I had a lot of their albums already). I gave them a second chance and I really like them now.

Necropost!!

So somebody observed in some other random thread that Husking Bee was back together as of a couple years ago but not here. So I didn't really notice until now.

Woohoo!!! I have some new material to check out. I do have Variandante and it is excellent. This is one of the only other Japanese bands I would really love to see live...

My favorite song is still the Sun and the Moon, but particularly the older recording of it. I have their last live DVD and a few albums, really a great example of how Japanese bands can take a supposedly overplayed genre like pop punk and bring something new and interesting to it, in my opinion. They don't break new ground in terms of technique, by any means, but they're just so damn GOOD.

there's some new husking bee songs that seriously remind me of the pillows. the power pop element in their sound has really come forward since they reformed. anyone know whether sawao ghostwrites at all...? :D
