Tons of older games were ported to GBA.
GBA versions are lame. They redid them so that they lost some of their coolness. I'll play my NES copy of FFI over the GBA release any day of the week.
Sonic the Hedgehog rocks. My brother has the Sonic Mega Collection +, and I got Super Sonic on StH3. So much fun...

Of course a panty peeler won't work on apples, that's just silly.
How exactly did the GBA versions of games "lose their coolness"?
I have SMB 3 and Zelda: LttP and both are exactly the same, if not better, than the SNES versions.

Nothing against them, but some people like to own the actual game.

Yeah, emulators are just great if you want to play a game that would otherwise be impossible for you to play. For instance, if it's not out in your language.

Actually, many of the GBA "ports" are not ports at all. To save time, thy just made emulators to run on the GBA.

phantasy star collection - ucch.
super mario advance 4 (a.k.a. smb3) - yes.
i appreciate when they update the graphics and add extra features for rereleases. otherwise, if i already own the game (which is usually the case for most of the ones i'd be interested in), all i'm really paying for is portability.

This isn't old school, but God, I love playing Mario Kart: Double Dash! on Gamecube. Especially with a LAN connection.
