well, Geneon is publicly presenting pillows in the wrong way. in a country that the pillows want to make a good impression on.
[edit] I sent Geneon an email about these things. hopefully they get them fixed. i also asked if My Foot was real and if they knew anything about the pillows' coming back to the Americas.

Honestly, can Tofu buy out the licsence owned by Geneon? Geneon was never a good distributor of anime in the first place.

Wait, I thought the anime was bought here by Synch-Point and Geneon was the distributor of the soundtracks?

yea, but it still has penalty life listed as good dreams for sale. but why would they release my foot domestically and not good dreams first? better yet, why not release something like PML or LB first!

Synch Point had license to the anime last I heard... Geneon is a licenser of anime in the States, often known for their high-quality releases. I would have to agree with most people that Tofu probably would have been a better choice. I guess it's hard for the pillows to escape their relation to all things anime...

A friend of mine was told at a convention a couple of months ago that My Foot was going to be getting a US release this year. I remember I was going to tell you guys, but I didn't have any proof other than his word. So, yeah, I'm pretty sure this is for real.

Still, $40 is pretty steep.

There are so many labels that would suit the pillows better. The best label (although indie) would definetely have to be Gearhead. They licensed GitoGito Hustler, the Spunks, and Electric Eel Shock; and they were the Hives and Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers first label before they got picked up by major labels. In fact I just mailed this letter out to them:
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am eternally grateful to see you guys signing such Japanese artists as Electric Eel Shock and the Spunks. I was wondering if you can help with something.
There's this band from Japan called the pillows. You might have heard of them through the popular anime FLCL. Anyways, currently they have only one album out for release in America (out of 18!); and it happens to be their most mediocre (Penalty Life). I am outraged by how their American distributor Geneon's promotion (or lack of promotion). They only sell their stuff in stores that sell anime (like Suncoast); but don't seem to branch out into the mainstream/indie music stores. This is a travesty considering the pillows are one of the world's greatest rock bands. (If you want proof, import "Please Mister Lostman" and "RUNNERS HIGH".)
A rumor is spreading that Geneon will be releasing their latest album "My Foot". I fear they will not promote this album properly; and I fear that America might lose out of hearing one of the first great rock albums of the year (released in Japan in January; about the same time as the Strokes' new album).
I know this may sound weird, but my wish is for this band to make it big in America. I think that a fine label such as yourself would be better suited to give the pillows the right first push to U.S. stardom. I don't know about buying contracts and their costs, but this is a band worth every penny that is in your pocket.
I am in no way shape or form a part of the pillows nor their management. I am just a fan (or Buster-kun, as we are called) that wants to see a terrific rock band get their dues. Please consider this opportunity before Geneon royally screws the band from ever achieving what they could. Thank you for your time.
I'll let you know if they reply.

You should've been like:
signed,
Butch Walker or somethin like that.
They're gonna think you're just some 14 year old dork who got his language arts teacher to proofread his/her letter before sending it out.
But if enough people requested it, they'd have to at least look into it.
