I've basically used in-ear earbuds for the last 3 years of my life...But now I'm getting paranoid about my hearing. All those studies: "Earbuds will make you deaf if you listen too loud" - well, no shit if you listen to loud...but...am I listening too loud? I'm not sure...
I wanna get some decent cans with a bit of outside noise suppression...but they're always so bulky! Regular over-the-ear headphones don't block out enough of the sound.

i read somewhere that 1 hr of listening at 60% of the max volume is fine, and thats max
anything under, can be for longer time duration....but not like 10 hours at 50% but sorta proportional to the 60%:1 hr thing

I just bought these:
thinking: Great! Smallish, over the ear, decent sound...
"DJ monitoring?" WHATEVER.
But...when I opened it up, the cord was 6 feet, and the end of the cord (not the jack itself) was huge and stiff. Not good at ALL for mp3-player-in-the-pocket use.
So yeah, now I'm basically stuck again for good over the ear headphones.

I use the treble-only speakers on my laptop
I think earbuds are neat, but I would never pay hundreds of dollars for some tiny speakers and thin wire.

I have those headphones as well. I really like them; the sound quality is great and people around you can't hear anything. The only problem is the incredibly long cord. I just loop it over my head a few times and I'm good to go (I use it with my mini disc player).

I just bought a pair of iPod headphones. $5. Now all I need is an iPod and I'll be set.

iPod earbuds are awful. They're so uncomfortable.
Every set of earphones/headphones I've used have broken on me so far. The left ear on every set just stops working or the sound twitches. I guess I got to stop cramming them in my pockets.

Yeah, when I walk the left one always fall out. But for $5 the sound is pretty good. I don't really like earbuds. I use to have Sony headphones that were the ones that wrap around the back of your head. I got mad at my CD player one day and threw it in the trash. I regret giving the headphones away.
