Seems like they had a rough break up with Kenji, they never seem to talk about Tatsuya leaving the band. Maybe they're assholes, I'm under the impression that Sawao is anyhow.

Actually, they are some of the nicest people you will ever know.

That impression probably comes from the speculation of certain members/ex-members of this forum.

It could be, but so far I haven't seen any hard evidence to suggest that Sawao is a jerk.

Is the bassist changes reasons/history stated somewhere? Kenji ueda says on his site just "Things led to things". People don't like sawao just because he isn't doing the music they like anymore. I don't think they're assholes, but there's a chance all of them are anyway.

Culen said something about Sawao firing My Way, My Love and not telling them until they found out on the internet or something. Hey, business is business.

I'm skeptical about that story, anyway. I'd like to hear another perspective on it, but yeah, if that's how it was, it was a pretty shrewd move.

they do discuss ueda leaving in [i]walkin' on the spiral[/i], but i never finished transcribing it.

now, if it was such a bad breakup, then why not call jun their official bassist? i think the explanation why he's still called guest/support after so many years is at least partly that they want to show respect for ueda for being an original member. if they didn't care about ueda at all, then why not just say he's replaced and be done with it?

and i'm sure they've talked about tatsuya at some point. unfortunately we have little access to old interviews or other material. they're certainly not going to talk about him when discussing their current work.

Yes - also, the 'respect for the other members' idea seems pretty valid. It's always 'why isn't Jun a member of the pillows?' well...: 'in order to show support for the original members'.

Makes perfect sense. Sawao's probably a nice guy.

I met Bojan (MYML's ex manager) and MYML last year when they were in the Twin Cities and heard the whole story. It was some BS about how Delicious Label didn't want to pay MYML because they didn't have a writen contract with them and MYML said "F**k you, we aren't going to record for your label any more, ect.. ect..," I took what I heard with a grain of salt because it was only one side of the story.

Wouldn't you know, a few months later I get an email from Bojan telling me that MYML screwed him over big time and that he wonderd how much of the Delicous Label story MYML told him was even true.

As far as Culen is concerned, Sawao must have sexed up his woman in another life or something. His hatred of him is really ridiculous. If he doesn't like the guys music or the direction he took the band in, fine. But jeez, it's like he took it personally. He really should get a grip.

Wow. Can't believe that MWML has a grudge against Sawao. He was the nicest guy at the KF. And the story of Bojan being screwed by the band, too. That's a double . Note to self: if ever booking a J-ROCK fest, keep MWML & the pillows 100 yds. away from each other at all times.
